How much are y'all eating?

So I'm sitting here stuffed from lunch (chili - yum!) and wondered what my calorie/carb counts were looking like, so I plugged it all in to fitday. Today was a higher carb day than usual (the chili, and I attempted 1/2 of a small low-carb, whole wheat tortilla for the first time...sitting a little bit heavy, but ok other than that). Other than that the day has been pretty typical. My concern is whether or not I'm eating too little. I'm eating as much as I possibly can, following my surgeon's/nut's instructions to the T, but still...my calories look so much less than what I see some others posting. I'm wondering if that's slowing my weight loss some....only 1 lb last week. Opinions and input are appreciated. My fitday numbers for today are below. Like I said, a little higher carb today than normal, but other than that, pretty typical. Calories Eaten Today grams cals %total Total: 570 Fat: 10 89 17% Sat: 2 15 3% Poly: 4 34 6% Mono: 2 17 3% Carbs: 43 130 24% Fiber: 10 0 0% Protein: 78 313 59% Alcohol: 0 0 0% The columns don't seem to be lining up right on that, but hopefully you can figure it out. Thanks! Margaret 271/241/135

Hi Anna! I lost about 5 lbs before surgery. I'm actually right on target for weight loss according to my surgeon, but he's not taking into account the 5 lbs I lost before surgery, and the fact that I'm stalled again. I'm probably being too much of a control freak but I'm constantly trying to figure out if I'm doing the right thing with my eating/exercise, etc. I guess everything has failed so many times I just expect this to as well. I feel really good about my weight loss so far.....just want to be sure I'm "doing it right". Silly, I know. :-/ Margaret

I am not sure if the calories are too little or not. I know somedays I get anywhere between 600-700 in. That's including at least 1 protein drink a day. Are you working out? I would call your NUT just to be sure. Looks like you're doing great on getting your protein in!!!!!!!

Hi Janie, Yes, I'm working out around 4 times per week for 45 min - 1 hour. Doing treadmill and upper body weights so far. I'm cleared tomorrow to start doing some ab work...yipee! I'd really like to get the exercise up to at least 5 days per week, but for now my schedule just doesn't allow for that. Thanks for responding! Margaret

Hi Margaret: I am able to eat around 600 calories a day, including protein drinks too..so sounds like we at the about the same place. I have not paid much attention to anything other than my protein and caloric intake right now though and I use fit day to track..I just never look at the columns. I know some days I don't even get 400 calories in (bad bad bad) but I just get so busy and then its the end of the day and no more time to get the calories in. My surgeon told me to keep my calories under 1000 right now..and a friend of mine that had wls almost 2 years go said I should get in at least 600 for my brain to function...but any way...that's my two cents for today...Hope everyone has a good evening

Hi Stephanie, Ok, looks like I'm pretty much on track with y'all. That makes me feel better! I guess when I read threads on the RNY forum about people eating 800-1000 calories it kind of freaks me out, because there is no way at this point that I can eat more, especially without getting into a snack habit, which I'm really trying to avoid. Thanks for your input! Margaret
