How many carbs are you eating in a day?
Hi All,
I was just wondering if you are watching your carb intake? I have been trying to and it keeps me at mostly protein...meat, a variety of cheeses, eggs and protein drinks. I have heard this also will help break a plateau of which I have been on for 12 days now UGH!
I have been eating no more than 25 carbs a day now. What have you been eating, or are you tracking it at all?
Hi Darla,
I trac****assionally on fitday.com, just to see where I'm at with calories, carbs, etc. I'm pretty consistantly under 20 carbs, usually somewhere around 15. Most of my carbs come from yogurt and cottage cheese (milk carbs). According to my surgeon's diet, I'm supposed to only be eating 2 or 3 crackers per WEEK....I admit to having more than that once or twice. I eat a teaspoon full of cooked green veggies a couple of times per week also....so, not many carbs.
I meet with my nut again next week to adjust my program to the next phase. I'm not sure if that'll change the carb thing though.

yeah, even our protein drinks seem somewhat loaded with carbs. If it isn't sugar, it's carbs....... I don't think 30 carbs a day sometimes will be a problem though. We just have to keep an eye on it. I recently found a soy milk that has less carbs than the skim milk I was drinking. I found it at Winco Foods and it's called 8th Continent Vanilla soy milk....it's yummy.
Per my Docs plan I am to stay under 50 carbs per day. Most day I eat about 30 but they are all good for you carbs! What I mean is they are fruit, veggies, and diary. I was told by my Nut that our bodies need carbs to function so 30carbs are really as low as I should be going. Always just make sure that your eating good carbs and not sugar, white flower ect...
My surgeon has a "suggested" plan with the first phase (3 weeks) liquids( includes water, crystal lite, tea, sugar free pudding, popsicles, jello, mashed potatoes, cream of wheat, protein shake, and yogurt--starting at 2 oz. and building up to 4 oz., liquid state, every 1 1/2 hours). It is amazingly satisfiying. Next week is phase 2--whoppee
I get to experience soft scrambled egg, etc. So--I'm not counting anything and finding it amazingly freeing. I'm just following his plan to the "T". No problems so far and I feel wonderful. Sometimes I have to remind myself that I am only 2 weeks out! I feel so normal--well--tired of course. I understand it is part of the healing process.
My post op appointment is next Tuesday and we will see how this works for me when I face the scale. It's interesting to see how different every one's eating plan is around the country.
Have a great day,
Faith
