Anybody else?
First off- I want to say I am greatful for my easy RNY and good health... BUT...has anyone else NOT dumped, NOT gotten sick, able to consume more than they think they should- and are somewhat concerned by this?
I am definately feeling more of a full/satisfied type feeling since going to soft foods... but I was just curious if anybody else was in my boat...
Thanks-
Holly
Holly,
I am right there with you! I've had a pretty easy time, and have not used pain meds since the day of bad gas pains in the hospital. I'm not sick at all, and can down quite a bit of liquids. I've been HUNGRY with tummy growling, feeling weak, etc.
I called my doctor to ask about one of my regular meds that they had stopped in the hospital and I wanted to restart. (My allergy pill). I asked about feeling hungry, and explained how much liquids I could drink, that I haven't felt full at all. The nurse told me to go ahead and move to soft foods today instead of waiting until Wednesday. I felt much better after cottage cheese for lunch and refried beans for dinner. I actually feel like I got some food and wasn't hungry anymore.
I was afraid that the surgery wasn't working because I could eat so much before, but tonight, I do feel better.

Hi Holly:
I am right there with you!! At first I was feeling that I was able to eat too much and i called and spoke to the nurse over the weight management program and she told me that my pouch was actually able to hold more than I thought it would and that I had not been eating enough! Go figure! I have not dumped, gotten sick, been tired or felt any pain since leaving the hospital. I did not have any pain in the hospital but I did get nauseated from drinking that gross stuff for the swallow test. That was the worst experience I have had. The gas in my belly did not even bother me...it was just funny looking at how swollen my stomach was! lol I have started walking on the treadmill last Friday and I did not feel overly tired then either. Yesterday I did the treadmill (30 min), ellipitical (10 min) and stairclimber (10 min) and wieghts (arm lifts 5 mins) and know that I over did it and was extra tired when I got home. Glad you asked this question because I was beginning to feel as if maybe my surgeon did not operate on me because I was feeling too good!!
I too get this feeling as well Holly. I am still on the liquids though so have a feeling that is my problem. I start on soft foods tomorrow though so am really looking forward to some real food. I must say though that I have been eating the refried beans and do get the full feeling with them. Hope this helps. I haven't dumped because I am so careful with what I eat...since I can't stand to get sick. I am off to the gym now, I am walking 1.5 miles at least 4 times a week.

Hi - I have gotten sick a few times, but it seems that my pouch can't handle anything very cold, everything has to be at least room temp. I got sick on shrimp - i think that it was too cold. i also got sick on homemade chili - I ate too soon after I ate something else. I haven't actually dumped - don't want to try that one. When I get sick it feels like I have a knife stabbing in my chest and i get those foamies until whatever is in there either comes back out or keeps moving on down. It is quite painful. I do get that full feeling - it feels like you just can't swallow anymore, or I can start to feel that stabbing pain and then I know that I have to stop eating - don't want to pu**** It usually happens at about 1/2 - 3/4 cup of food. It is amazing. I'm trying everything - but very cautiously.
