Feeling great
Hi Jan. Board!!!
Sorry I haven't checked in sooner. I am home and doing GREAT. Today is 6 days post op and I feel like I could just run circles around the old Lori already. It is so surreal to be on the other side of surgery now and losing weight...permanently might I add. This was something I had dreamt of for so long and now that my Lap RNY is over and I am recovering I am in awe. The weight has been pouring off of me. At my initial weigh in I was 242#. The day of surgery I was 237 and today I am 229#. I have had to wear a JP drain since surgery (it's a part of my Dr.'s protocal) it removes fluid from the surgery site out into a bulb which must be drained several times per day. It has slowed me down a bit from doing things I would have without it just because it's hard to conceal...and that might just be a good thing I do have to share though that I had a really scary moment right before surgery. I had a near panic attack. They had taken me back to pre-op to get my gown on and my IV's in and were supposed to bring my family right in, but someone dropped the ball. I was fine, but the fear of not seeing my husband right before I went in sent me into hysteria. Laying in the bed alone next to sooo many sick people going in for surgery I began to get negative thoughts that gripped me...When my husband finally came in I was tottaly freaked out, and he could see it on my face. I just asked him to pray with me. And he immediatly got down on his knees next to me and prayed which brought me comfort. Within 5 mins the nurses came to wheel me away but by the time they gave me my "****tail" I had worked myself up to vomiting, and as soon as I got in the OR...out it came. I remember them saying woah, woah, woah and then my next memory is recovery. The first 3 days were pretty intense in terms of pain, but once I got past that I felt great. I know this is TMI, but I think the first BM helped...after that the excess gas began to pass within hours and life was getting back to normal. I am on a 6 week liquid diet and my Dr. does not allow protein drinks during this time because he feels it's too taxing on the kidneys, so I'll have to get creative. I'll be searching for 5 weeks of recipes for anything healthy I can make that can be sucked through a straw.
So thank you guys so much for your support and to Katy B (my Caters) (that's root beer..LOL) here's to a faster recovery dear. It's been great having so many of you message me and check in this week. It's going to be an amazing journey over the next year and I am sooo excited to have you guys to lean on, and learn from over this journey. Looking forward to many many WOW moments!

Welcome home and congrats. I had the drain also I just got it out today. I was so happy to have it out. It was hard to hide, I pinned it to my bra on the side LOL. My first 5 days were horrible too but I am getting around better now.
Here is a very good drink: 1 packet carnation instant breakfast sugar free, 1/3 cup of dried milk, 8 oz of skim milk. It has 22 grams of protein and tastes so good. I bought sugar free creamers in 3 flavors to add to make it taste different each day.

Well I live in Illinois and get mine from Jewel Food Store but you can order them directly from the Carnation website at: http://www.careexpress.com/prodcategory.asp?NestleCategoryID=1.
I love it.
