How can this be??? My first real WOW moment

OK, Yesterday I was 12 days post op and David was off work and asked me if I would like to go to the mall with him. I was delighted to so I proceeded to put on my favorite outfit. It felt a little baggy (this was the first time I got dressed in anything but sweats) I walked out to the room he was in and he said "Honey, I'm sorry to say this but that outfit looks terrible.....just go look in the mirror) To my extreme surprise, It looked about 2 sized too big. I thought, this is crazy, I'm only down 15 lbs how can this be? I went back to my closet and tried on 3 more things as I started a pile of "clothes too big" Finally, I resorted to a top I have never, I repeat NEVER been able to button up. (I had tendancy to buy things, once in a great while, that were too small for me to try to give me an incentive to lose weight) anyway, it buttoned up nicely and needless to say, that was the blouse for me. I walked back in to see David and he asked me where I got that blouse so I explained. He gave me a big squeeze and said, OMG honey, you feel so much smaller when I hug you. I was on cloud 9 at that moment. What a great feeling.....................

Christine, It is truly amazing how fast this all starts to happen. Congratulations on your recent surgery. I'm glad you are home where the real healing begins. I just had my surgery on 1/24/07.......and I am WOWed already. Best wishes for you on your WOW journey ahead. Darla

Woooooohoooooo Darla, what a wonderful wow moment!!! Your David is such a sweet heart!!! Wow that is just so awesome. I need to go through my closet as well. My clothes feel baggy too but I am afraid...weird I know but there it is. Plus I can't wear jeans that button or snap yet because my hernia incision is not yet healed so that doesn't leave me many options. I simply cannot wait to go back to work in a week and a half in different cloths then I normally wear. Funny that you mention buying some smaller clothes. I do the exact same thing. I have bought some really nice clothes in hopes and I hope I don't miss wearing them because of this hernia...lol Any way wow Congratulations girlfriend you are doing so awesome!!!! Love, Anna

Hi Anna, Oh Anna, you will experience this for yourself very soon. It is exillerating and such a surprise. It's so hard to believe this is happening this quickly. Just wait until you get in to those smaller clothes you bought; words cannot describe how that feels. I have clothes that still have the tags hanging on them and I'm probably 5 lbs away from wearing them too. Can you imagine? I have had these things for a good 3-4 years, fortunately back in style too, and I may only be able to wear them for a short while if things keep shrinking down like they have done so far. I'm even getting my waist back YIPPEE!!!!! What a blast. I look in the mirror and giggle sometimes. It's just like a kid. Have fun with it Anna, you will be surprised when you are able to try things on once your hernia repair area heals up enough. Please be sure to let us know how that feels for you when you get there OK? Oh what fun!!! Darla

I can relate. I am down 29lbs (4 prior to surgery) and have a whole basket of clothes that are too big. It is a wonderful feeling to take something off and say, nope this is too big instead of this is too small. Congrats on your first WOW and I wish you many many more to come. Crystal 248/219/125
