Hi everyone, It is 3 weeks post-op and it seems like the only thing that goes down is water! Soups-no way, juices-so so. Sometimes I feel that my stomach is too small for it to hold anything. Help!!!!!

God, I know how you feel. Trust me... I am having this problem too. I try to drink those nasty protein shakes, but I can't find any that are good. And the ones I once liked, I can't really seem to drink much of them anymore. The only things that really work for me are: 1) A scrambled egg with a 1/2 piece of cheese melted and chopped up in it. It usually takes me 30 minutes to fini**** but its 8 grams of protein. 2) Sugarfree peanut butter & sugarfree jelly mixed together. 2 tablespoons is 7 grams of protein. I have to eat this really slowly. 3) Chicken salad. Depends on how you fix it. Storebought, it's 10 grams of protein for a 1/4 cup, but that takes me a long time to eat.

Only protein drink I can handle is protica. I buy the case of multi flavors online at protica.com. It's a little expensive but does the trick. I drink two vials daily. They are 25 grams in 2.9oz of drink. So they pack a big punch. I still hate the feeling of food and drinks going down. Geez, I used to be such a big gulper when I drank. Sipping is killing me. The instinct to gulp is still there. But even taking a little more than I should and my pouch tells me it's too much. Same when I eat too fast. That too is hard for me still..... I was a fast eater. Well with two young kids and always running it's hard to slow down. But there again, the pouch tell me like it really is or has to be. Chicken patty from McD's, grilled seems to go down easy. For any fast food junkies. It's very moist and has a good peppered taste. Tuna has been great mixed with a little low fat mayo. Scrambled eggs and egg drop soup. Yumm. Take Care, Glad to hear you had your surgery.

Protica: I've heard a few people mention it, so a couple days ago I bought the sample pack. I hope I like it because that does seem easier to do. So they're really strong in flavor?

Hi - I haven't had the protica ones, but I have the IDS-New Whey ones - they can be a little strong and tart. It usually goes down fine, but i chase it wth water. IDS also has a 42 g. one, which I dilute w/ a few onces of water. That way I get even more protein in at one time. Marta

Hi there ladies. I also use the protica because the amount you need to make a protein drink is what 8 ounces and if you do it with 4 it is too thick....yuck. If you want a 15% discount on your protica go to my profile and at the very bottom there is a link. I am getting ready to buy some more myself. I usually drink them when I feel like I just can't get enough protein. Or when food doesn't sound good. Hope this helps. Anna

Ask you doctor to check you for a stricture. This can happen with the scar tissue forming, and causing the opening out of your pouch to be restricted and only allowing trickles of water to flow out. They can stretch it open easily, but you definately need to call! Prayers, Jennie
