The big D

Just started puree foods on Thursday and so far The BIG D has attacked. It doesn't happen during the day but in the evening I run to the bathroom 6 or 7+ times. On Friday we think I just had too much milk. Yesterday I had eggbeaters for all my meals and the same thing happened. Today has been fine so far. Talking to Dr. on a regular basis. I may have to have a test for C-diff but I guess this doesn't sound like typical C-diff. Dr. said it still may be the adjustment to puree foods. Anyone else having this problem? I had the surgery on 1-22-07 and have lost 24 pounds. I would do it again but I am getting sick of spending my evenings in the bathroom. For those of you having the surgery this coming week Best of luck to you. I am sure you will be fine. God bless. Jan

I have the same problem, but not so many times. However I am not on the puree food plan, when I was discharged, I was put on soft foods, chicken, tuna, jello, stuff like that. I also had the surgery on 1/22/07, I guess all doctors are different! Good luck and let me know how you are doing! Laura

My surgery was the same day. I'm just starting pureed foods this weekend. So far, the only thing that gave me that reaction has been SF pudding. I think the sugar alcohols were too high (7 g). Jen

Funny, I was going to post the same thing. It might be sugar free but not fat free. Or low fat. I was thinking the high fat content did it. But that sugar alcohol that they put in to trick most people into thinking the glycemic index is low is the problem. You are absolutely right.

Last nite was ok I guess, I called the dietician this am. I am going to be tested for C-diff but it is a long shot. She felt I was on the extreme side of normal with the BIG D. The BIG D seems to be turning into a small d, so maybe I am stabilizing a bit. I ate cottage cheese today couldn't stand the sight of an egg. Thanks for all your support and helping me not be embaressed by TMI post. I have no shame anymore!!!! Take care and God Bless.
