How many weeks/days are you post op? I AM TWO WEEKS, 4 DAYS POST-OP =) How are you feeling? IM FEELING OKAY, NOT REALLY TOO DIFFERENT FROM BEFORE SURGERY- MAYBE A LITTLE GRUMPIER. How are you doing getting in all your fluids, protein, food, vitamins? HONESTLY IM DOING GOOD WITH VITAMINS AND WATER...AS FAR AS PROTEIN I'VE BEEN SLACKING- THEY MOVED ME TO SOFT PROTEINS BUT ITS STILL VERY LIMITED SO I HATE EVERYTHING I CAN EAT. IM ALSO VERY AFRAID TO EAT, ILL POST ABOUT THAT LATER. What is (or was) your biggest difficulty post op? HMMM, DRINKING/EATING TOO FAST AND CONSTIPATION! What is the thing that is easiest? NOT BEING HUNGRY Has anything been surprising/not expected? I WAS SURPRISED HOW QUICKLY THE WEIGHT IS COMING OFF BUT OF COURSE I STILL DONT NOTICE IT AT ALL. PEOPLE ARE MAKING COMMENTS BUT I FEEL LIKE ILL NEVER SEE THE DIFFERENCE, EVEN AT -100LBS. I GUESS IM STILL WAITING FOR A "WOW" MOMENT. BUT OTHER THAN THAT I DIDNTEXPECT HOW MUCH I CAN DRINK. I CAN DRINK MUCH MORE THEN MOST PEOPLE, MAYBE THATS A GOOD THING? How much weight have you lost? I'VE LOST AROUND 24LBS, MAYBE 25. Any recipes you want to share? HMMM NOT A RECIPE BUT I WAS JUST THINKING THAT MAYBE YOU'D WANT TO PUT YOUR S/F PUDDING IN THE FREEZER AND THEN EAT IT LIKE ICE CREAM? Anything else you want to share?? I'VE BEEN SUCH A GRUMP LATELY...AND VERY ANTI-SOCIAL. I NEVER WANT TO LEAVE MY HOUSE. AND I'VE BEEN AVOIDING OH. I WAS KIND OF LIKE THAT BEFORE BUT NOW ITS MAGNIFIED. I DONT FEEL DEPRESSED OR ANYTHING, JUST NOT VERY HAPPY. I DONT THINK ITS RELATED TO THE EATING AT ALL SO IM KIND OF AT A LOSS...BUT I THINK ILL HAVE TO TALK TO THE BEHAVIOR PPL IN MY PROGRAM.

What a great idea! I haven't posted here at all since my surgery, been hanging out on the Arkansas and main boards. Sorry about that! Here's my info: How many weeks/days are you post op? I had my surgery on 01/19/2007, so I'm 2 wks. 2 days post-op. How are you feeling? I'm feeling great now! The whole eating, drinking, protein, vitamin thing has become routine for me and I'm feeling really good. I never had any real pain from my surgery, just soreness. I've never had any nausea/vomiting, so I feel really blessed about that. How are you doing getting in all your fluids, protein, food, vitamins? I get all of my protein in first thing in the morning with my protein drink, I get 62 oz. of protein per 12oz. shake. I have a hard time getting all my fluids simply because I run out of hours in the day, but I'm close to 64 oz. a day and working really hard to get it all in on a daily basis. My vitamins are not a problem, I take 2 Flintstones chewable a day and will start Calcium chewable at 4wks. out. Food is also not a problem. The first few days at home I felt like I was starving to death. Now, I don't feel hunger at all. I eat when the clock says its time to eat. How weird! What is (or was) your biggest difficulty post op? GAS PAINS!!!!!!!!!!!! The very first day I could eat soft foods, which was 6 days out, I ate a little scrambled egg for breakfast then spent the rest of the day wishing I would die! I couldn't eat, drink, walk, could barely move it hurt so bad. I used a Dulcolax suppository (dr. recommended) that night and finally around 3am the pains relaxed enough I could go to sleep. The gas pains lingered for about 7 days, but not as intense as the first day. I've been pain free for several days now and am so relieved that is over, I hope it doesn't come back. What is the thing that is easiest? How easily this new lifestyle has become routine for me. I don't stress and worry about every little thing. Also, it is so much easier for me to get on the treadmill and walk now than it was before, I guess because I know it will give me results now. Has anything been surprising/not expected? I was surprised at how little pain I felt, virtually none and that I've never had any nausea or vomiting, not even come close. I was very surprised at how bad the "head hunger" was the first few days, but it went away as soon as I was able to actually eat instead of drink my meals. It doesn't bother me to be around food at all now because I just don't want it. How much weight have you lost? (NOTE: this is NOT for comparison - we are all different and lose at different rates, but I feel like it's important for us to share eachother's victories!) I've lost a total of 16 lbs. WOOHOO Any recipes you want to share? None yet, I'm still searching for some good ones to try out. Anything else you want to share?? I just want to say I am so thankful to my God for opening up the doors for me to have this surgery done. I researched and prayed about it for a very long time before deciding to do it and I know He has been with me throughout the whole process. I had realized months and months ago that I needed to take more responsibility for my life and He showed me the way. By having this surgery, I have added at least 10 yrs. back to my life. That's 10 more years to enjoy my family. My husband will now have a wife he can be proud of, even though he says he's proud of me and loves me just the way I am. My kids won't have the fat mommy of the classroom, but they will have a mommy who has the energy and confidence to get outside and play with them and act a fool with them. Also, I hope that by learning a more healthy way to eat I will be a positive role model for my 2 girls and they will never have to suffer the struggles and humiliation of being overweight. I hope to be able to teach them the importance of exercise and good nutrition so when they're my age (32), they won't be having to face WLS just to have a normal life. So I thank God for this opportunity to not only change my life, but to possibly change or at least be a positive influence, on so many other lives. Take care, Denise
