Alice, Have you tried (if you are allowed by your surgeon) sugar free drinks for your fluid intake? I prefer Walmart brand to Crystal Lite...much better tasting. I water them down a little bit, just to add a little more water. Anyway, they make the sipping much easier for me. Regarding what I eat (I'm including my protein as well): Breakfast: 3 oz low carb yogurt mixed with one scoop (20 g) protein powder and 1 upcal scoop. "Snack" Smartforme protein drink (either orange or berry flavored) 15g Lunch: 1 oz chicken, tuna or fish, or 2 oz cottage cheese (I add another upcal to my cottage cheese) "Snack" Protein pudding made with sugar free Jello instant pudding, protein powder, and skim milk (14g) Dinner: 1 oz chicken, turkey, tuna, or fish. Sometimes I add a cooked veggie (around 1 tsp) to my lunch or dinner. I drink fluids CONSTANTLY between those meals (stopping 1/2 hr before, and not drinking until 1/2 after eating - except for my "snacks" as those are considered fluids by my doc). On dificulty I'm having as I'm feeling better and life gets back to normal - ie. BUSY - I'm having a hard time remember to drink drink drink and end up coming up short on my fluids in the evening. I make the recipe noted above and also make a "Mex Casserole" with 1 tsp fat free refried beans, 1 oz chicken, a sprinkle of salsa, shredded cheese heated until cheese is melted and then topped with 1/2 tsp fat free sour cream. Yummy and full of protein. Hope that helps. I'll be praying for you as you introduce new foods. Margaret

Margaret, My doctor does not want me taking protein yet. He said that I have enough fat stored up that my body can live off of it for about two months. He said that having protein is an expensive way of slowing down my weight loss. He said I will start protein when my body fat levels drop down to normal ranges. I do better with plain water than flavored water. Water is not a problem for me just food. Thank you so much for caring. Warmly, Alice

How many weeks/days are you post op? Surgery date was 1/24/07 so I'm 11 days post op How are you feeling? I am feeling like I have energy that I have not known in about 20 years since I got so ill with my pregnancy. I am anxious to exercise which is a miracle in itself for me and very, very happy to be in control of my eating habits. How are you doing getting in all your fluids, protein, food, vitamins? Everything is just fine BUT I only got the OK to start introducing new foods to my diet last night so my first meal consisted of lean ground beef, french style cut green beans and a little undiluted tomato soup.....only about 2 oz. Total. It was very tasty and my pouch liked it just fine. Woke up that still felt satisfied from last night, not full by any means, but where I should be in the morning upon awakening. What is (or was) your biggest difficulty post op? For me, I progressed without any difficulties other than the aches and pains of being fresh out of major surgery. Even that, I took only 3 pain pills post op. What is the thing that is easiest? Just the mental satisfaction knowing that my pouch can only consume so much food and quantity NOT quality was always my problem in the past. Now the quantity will be in control no matter what. Has anything been surprising/not expected? I didn't realize just how much easier it would be to lose this weight. I saw it, I believed in it, but once you are living it OH BABY!! How much weight have you lost? (NOTE: this is NOT for comparison - we are all different and lose at different rates, but I feel like it's important for us to share eachother's victories!) At 9 days, post op, I was down 9 lbs. I was a lightweight at BMI of 37.8 when I started. Any recipes you want to share? Hmmm, I'm sorry, today is really my first day to even get to try new recipes myself so I don't have any as of yet. Anything else you want to share?? That I'm so thankful for this board and I hope people will chose to stay with it for a long time to come.

How many weeks/days are you post op? 8 days How are you feeling? Better and better with every day. Today I feel great! How are you doing getting in all your fluids, protein, food, vitamins? Protein shakes suck. I tend to not get all 60-80 grams per day, but I am doing better every day. What is (or was) your biggest difficulty post op? My stomach had swollen a bit, and therefore I was having trouble getting in all my proteins and liquids. What is the thing that is easiest? Walking Has anything been surprising/not expected? My first 1-week weight loss of 20.9 lbs! How much weight have you lost? (NOTE: this is NOT for comparison - we are all different and lose at different rates, but I feel like it's important for us to share eachother's victories!) So far, about 22 lbs. Any recipes you want to share? Nah, I'm not too adventurous yet. Anything else you want to share?? Can't think of anything! Cathryn
