Hi - I would check w/ your surgeon first. I have the same problem. I am allowed to take milk of magnesia or ducelax - which is a stool softner and laxative. The milk of mag is really nasty - so I use the ducelax (they are 2 lttle pills). I have to take them at least every other day, until I can get more fiber in. I also put benfiber in my food - it is tasteless and adds fiber. It is real important that you go - or else it could lead to a bigger problem. - good luck Marta

Are you adding any fiber to your protein shakes? Benefiber can be added to water if you are not tolerating shakes...it doesn't thicken. My surgeon also stated I could use Colace it is a stool softener. Hope that helps...I would check in with your doctor though to make sure whatever you do is according to his plan of care.

I have the same problem. I use a stool softner and today my nutritionist said to use 1 tablespoon of flax seed and you can either cook or mix it with something. She said that is something that I could use forever because it's basically natural fiber.
