The importance of water!

I had read somewhere in my search to make sure I was very hydrated BEFORE my surgery, in order to help with bloating during my hospital stay. I realize most of you have already had surgery, but for those pre-ops, please drink and drink and drink!!!! My surgery was last Wednesday morning (Jan 24th), and I was able to eat and drink anything I wanted up to midnight (only 6 hours prior to reporting to the hospital). Well, since I was already awake anyway, I was chugging water as the clock ticked midnight. (I had also made sure to have much more than the recommended 64 ounces on the days leading up to my surgery.) Anyway, although I was on IVs and drank water and all the fun stuff while I was recovering, my actual measured weight never increased from my pre-op appointment. In fact, I left the hospital about 8 - 10 pounds less than I entered. I look forward to my follow up this Thursday. I know I am fortunate. I thank God Almighty. God bless! -R

I could not agree more about the importance of water pre op. It helped me out especially with the needle pokes during the lab work and putting in the IV pre op. It has helped me post op because I do not have any problems drinking the daily required amount of water. Danielle
