How long do you take off work?

I'm not scheduled for surgery yet, so maybe I shouldn't be posting here, but I need to know how long off of work is necessary. I'm hoping to have the lapband surgery and heard that you can go back to work after three days. Did any of you feel ready for that? Did anyone actually do that?

It really depends, depends on how you feel and what kind of work you do. My daughter had lap band in October. She took a week off, and really pretty much needed it. By day 5 she was pretty much feeling up to par, but those extra couple of days really helped her be back 100%. Best wishes, Margaret

Thanks. I work at a desk in an office-no physical labor, no real walking around or lifting anything. Mostly phone and computer work. I was hoping to have the surgery on a Thursday and be back on Monday which will be the fourth day after surgery. Does this sound possible? (did your daughter need the five days plus the weekend?)

Hi - this was a big concern of mine as well. I took off a total of 8 working days. It could have been 7 - but - it was freezing out on the last day I was home and I did'nt want to go out. I had surgery on a Monday - stayed in hospital til wens and went back to work the next week on thurs. 3 days seems really short - but if you feel up to it should be fine. Good luck

Julie, I hear that it would be possible for lap band. I wouldn't suggest it though unless you just cannot get around it. I would suggest at least a week. Just my opinion though. I would suggest going to the lapband forum and asking. Good Luck with your research!! Anna
