All of a sudden I am tired

When I first got home, I was full of energy. I was feeling great!! I started doing my Walk away the pounds 1 mile and was doing great. I pittle paddled around the house, cleaned, cooked, cleaned carpet....you name it. I was bored and had the energy. YESTERDAY I thought I felt so great that I will go grocery shopping. I took my son to get a sports physical and then I went 2 markets and Walmart. I was gone a total of about 4 hours. I started feeling light headed and week in the middle of Walmart. I realize I had not had anything to eat or drink in about 6 hours. I tell this was an awful feeling. I am still feeling the effects of it today. I am strickly a morning person. However, today I had to take my son to the school @ 7am for a morning game. I barely made it. I am still feeling week. How is it possible to feel so great one minute and then so awful the next minute? One more thing. I need more protein. I am having issues with soy. I can do the drinks a little but they make me feel like puking. I can't even get the powders down. I eat alot of cream of chicken and clam chowder. Any other food suggestions I have 11 more days of puree.

Hello, I was the same way when I got home. I was full of energy, I cleaned, cooked, did some laundry and also went shopping, and that was a bad ideal because I felt crummy afterwards. I can tell you by the fourth day I was exhaused I could not even get out of bed .I think after surgery some of us are so amazed how good we feel and try to do too much, and all of a sudden the tirednes****s. So now I have been taking one day at a time no matter how good I feel I only do the necessary things that need to be done, but try not to over do it. We have to realize that we had a major surgery and need all the rest we can get so that our bodies can heal. Teona

ME TOO!!!!! It hit me like a ton of bricks today. I took a 2 hour nap...and I mean a SOLID sleeping nap. I guess it's just more healing time. I recommend you try SmartForme (www.smartforme.com - I think) for protein. Most of their products have 15g protein, so not quite as much as unjury, but I like them a lot better than the powders or shakes. I like the orange and berry drinks, the chicken broth (very yummy), and the cappucino. Their pudding is ok, but a little powdery. They're having a special right now for OH members, $9.99 for a sample pack. Can you have yogurt yet? I add vanilla unjury to my 3 oz of low carb yogurt in the a.m. It's the only thing I seem to tolerate really well in the morning. I also tried the New Whey protein thingy (can't remember what it's called) that has 42g protein in 3.1 oz of drink today. Between a busy morning and my long nap somehow I missed drinking any of my protein. I'd ordered the 42g thingy to give a try, so I just downed it. A little syrup-y, but really not too bad, especially if you split it up and drink it 1 oz at a time. Take care. Rest as much as you can. Margaret

This has been the only side effect that is making me nuts! Even after my walks I can sleep for like 3 or 4 hours afterwards, seems a little counter-productive if you ask me. The bad thing is the exhaustion starts making me feel depressed so I hope this is just a short phase. As far as the puree, I pureed cottage cheese and then pureed peaches (sugar free canned) and put them on top. It was good and really satisfying. I also really love tomato soup. I had some Dannon light and fit yogurt type thing yesterday, it was okay but it was something different. I really like Cream of Wheat with a little Splenda. I'm waiting for next week so I can try some pureed Tuna. I think my body is really wanting the protein right now but I can wait a few more days for that. I just want to say that you are an active person!! I feel lazy compared to you! Good luck and take it easy! Adrianne Lap RNY 1/11/07

Hi - some pureed things I've tried are nonfat refried beans w/ 1 slice non fat cheese melted, canned chx or tuna w/ reduced fat mayo, fat free hormel chili - turkey or vegitatrian, cottage cheese, steamed talapia fish, scrambled egg. As for protein drinks I also like the new whey 25 g or 42 g shot vials it gets in alot of protein in alittle amount. Hope this helps - keep up the good work and I hope you find your energy...... I was going to post the very same thing today...I am almost 3 weeks post op although I have not had any burst of energy I was doing some chores around the house and been out and about doing errands..Today it hit me hard I got so weak I almost couldn't make it and this afternoon have slept..I guess we don't realize we don't heal overnight. I too have had issues with the protein ..I continue to use the hot chocolate I buy from http://www.atproteinplus.com the lady that started her business is a bariatric patient herself. I also went back to drinking some of my Chocolate Essence I bought from my Dr. office but, I think you can get it whereever high protein products are sold. I hope you get to feeling better and glad to know I am not the only one. Take care, Karen
