The dietician told me to be finding a protein drink I like. What can you all recommend and where do you buy it at? I like chocolate and would like a plain one (or vanilla) to mix with other things for my drinks. I'm just trying to get everything lined out before I get my surgery scheduled. Many thanks and blessings!

I mix unjury with my yogurt to give it a protein boost. I like it in my coffee (decaf) as well, but you can't have unjury too hot or the protein clumps - yucky! I highly recommend Smartforme. www.smartforme.com. They don't have quite as much protein (15 g for most of their products) and are a little more pricey, but I've found, especially at this beginning stage, they are very easy to drink, yummy. I like the orange drink, the berry drink, the cappucino, and the chicken broth. The puddings are ok, but a little bit powdery. Hope that helps! Margaret p.s. I just got an email from smartforme this a.m. They're having a special on their sample pack for OH members, $9.99.

Well it's really a taste think and your tastes will change after surgery. So far I have tried profect mango something I got a box of four samples from their website. It is like 3 oz with 25 g of protein in it and tastes really good. If you are interested go to my profile at the very bottom is a link to use to get a 15% discount. I wanted to have that on hand in case I couldn't stomach the reg protein drinks. Since it is only 3 oz it was perfect for the night I cam home from the hospital. They mail them pretty quick as well. I have also tried Nectar - Crystal sky. Very good. Hope this helps Anna

I had surgery on 1/9/07. In the hospital they gave me the carnation instant breakfast and boost. Both of those I tolerated very while. I tried Ensure and Boost prior to surgery and found those to be too sweet. I also got the Nectar from GNC with the lemon tea flavor. I also got the EAS 100% Whey chocolate and the GNC American Whey vanilla. Both of these I having been using after surgery. The vanilla I haven't been able to drink after the first 4 days because my taste buds changed and the vanilla tastes metalically. The Nectar, American Whey, and the EAS all have 20-23 grams of protein. I also tried the premixed EAS Myoplex lite chocolate which has 25 grams of protein and it tastes really good too. I hope this helps. Amanda Stone-Secrest

My favorite are the Nectar brand that I purchase from bariatriceating.com They are great and mix really well. I LOVE the roadside lemonade. I drink it all the time. The nice thing about that website is you can also order sample packets.
