6 days post op
Trust me you are not alone. How long do you have to be on the liquid diet? I was on it for 7 days. And it was the hardest thing I have ever had to do. I would have rather gone thru labor 100 times before I would want to go thru that liquid diet again. I and 89 days post op and I finally get to go to mushy foods today I had very small portion of beans and I was full to the gills. But it felt so good to have solid foods. It does get better. But don't cheat. Stick thru it. Try to take your mind off of the food. Have you tried sugar free popsicles? The helped me out allot. Keep your self busy go for a walk it really helped me. Take care of your self. And stay strong. I got thru it and so will you.
Warmly, Alice
I am on this diet for another 8 days, but I know i can get through it. I won't cheat I'm really scared to eat any kind of solids. I had the lapband surgery and my physcians and nutrionist well informed me about not eating solids.because it may get stuck and I don't want to experience that. But I will call the nutrionist to find out if I can try a milk shake or something I know it's high in calories but I really can't drink another slimfast.

Hey Teona,
I had my surgery on the 18th of Jan too! And yes, I am starving! I hated the slimfast shakes. At the hospital, I finally tried the carnation instant breakfask with skim milk, and it was better than the slimfast!! Now I am the 1st person to avoid anything that involved skim milk (it's so blueish and thin), but after adding the 1/3 cup of dry instant milk to the mix...it's actually thick. I only have to be on the liquid diet for 7 days before going to a mushy diet...so I feel your pain.

Hi Teona,
I am 3 weeks out and still on liquids. My doc does 4 week. Anyway, I found that using real protein powder mixed with water and a bit of frozen fruit works wonders! I have two shakes a day and I'm hardly ever hungry anymore. Also, liquids is anything you can get through a straw so unless your diet specifically says Clear Liquid, then you can do other soups and such besides plain broth, jello etc.
Hang in there! You've gotten this far!

Have you tried the Sugar Free Jello Pudding or yogurt? They are a little thicker and seem to last longer in your belly. I totally went thru this as I am sure most have. It SUCKS this is true, but when you get that first taste of something solid, it is heaven.
Hang in there we are pulling for you

Hi Ladies!!
My surgery is March 5th!!But I just wanted to comment on the whole protein thing.....My mom had this surgery 2 yrs ago,and what she found out when she first had the surgery, was to add like 8 ice-cubes,3oz of water(I believe),4 frozen strawberries,a half of a bananna, and a scoop of whey Protein(you can get at Walmarts),and just a little bit of splenda,or sweet and low,or you might not even want to add the splenda or sweet&low!thats kind of a experiment with your own taste buds! And add all of this in a blender!!!!Alot of ladies are talking about how after the surgery everything is soo sweet, well thats exactly the way my mom felt and still does,so alot of times she just forgets the sugar!Cause its already sweet enough!I will get back with you ladies,to make sure I told you right about the protein shake recipe! But trust me ladies.............IT IS SOOOOOOOOO GOOD:jump:!!!!My son loves it too LOL!He was always wanting to drink off of it!And my brother who is 13 now,Always wanted to drink it and would not keep his mouth off of her straw and still doesnt!!!
Good Luck Ladies!!!And in a Month and 9 days LOL I will be on the losing side with yas!!!WoooHoooo
