Hi all, The hospital where I will have my surgery has a large integrated medicine department, and at my pre-op seminar someone came to explain the services they offer. He also recommended trying a guided imagery CD to help prepare for surgery. I've heard (although not seen myself) that there is research showing that patients who use these kinds of programs have lower complication rates. So I thought I'd give it a try. I picked up Health Journeys, Meditations to Promote Successful Surgery from Amazon. I've been listening every day and I do think that it's been beneficial thus far. I have been in a better mood and I'm not quite so anxious about the surgery. Anyhow, I was just wondering if anyone else had tried this, and if they had success with it.

I have not heard of that. My hospital has a Reiki program for free. It is supposed to help you do the same thing & helps to "infuse" you with positive healing energy. I plan on trying it... figure it can't hurt. Let you know how it works out.

Yes, I bought Guided Imagery tapes for WLS and they worked well. I recommend them. They really kept me focused. The ones I bought were specifically for Lap Banders.
