Hey guys I got home from the hospital yesterday and I just wanted to update everyone on my status. Im doing really well. I do have this nagging cough that is lingering and making my tummy achey and its kind of hard to sleep since the cough is worse when Im not sitting up straight but other than that Im fine. Ive been up and walking around since day 1 post-op and that helped SOOOO MUCH! Ive been off pain meds since the 2nd day, I have percocet and tylenol here at home but I havent felt the need to take either. Ive tolerated everything Ive tried to eat/drink and Ive made my prtein and water intake goals for every day. Its a little hard to remember my vitamins but my mom is helping me out with that. I have been up moving around and doing almost everything for myself. I got up and down the stairs to get to the bathroom and I can bend and pick up things of a reasonable weight. My support system is helping me out SOOO much mentally. Im so thankful for my mom and my bestest friend Lauren, they have no idea how much they have done for me. I just cant really concentrate on too much. I dont want to watch tv, read, listen to music, talk on the phone, or do school work...its tough. I kind of just want to be in the quiet and sit here, not even sleep. I got on the scale on day 3 post op and Im down 5lbs from right before I left for the hospital. Like everyone said the worst trouble I had was the gas pains but Im telling you I got up right away and it felt WONDERFUL! Good luck everyone who's date is coming up and thanks to everyone who was pulling for me!

Hey Angela. Congrats on your surgery. I am sorry to hear you have a lingering cough. Unfortunately that is something that does happen sometimes after surgery. Keep using your incentive spirometer to take those deep breaths. It will help clear out your lungs & get things moving. Make sure your doc knows how much you are coughing & if it does cause you any other probs. You don't want it to develop into pneumonia. Hope you have a speedy recovery!!!

Glad to hear everything went well. I've heard people say the key is in the walking and just generally moving around. One of the things you said about picking up things of reasonable weight concerned me. Our pre-op classes told us not to even pick up a grocery bag in the first month, and no spa either. They don't want you to do anything that might interfere with the healing, so relax girl let those around you help out. That's why they are there! Keep posting when your able, and congrats on your surgery.

By reasonable weight I meant like...I can pick up my book if it fell or I can pick up clothes off the floor...I didnt mean reasonable like a good amount of weight. Dont worry I am taking it easy. I was just worried before about bending so before I left for the hospital I put everything up on tables but I didnt really need to.

Woo Hoo Angela, we share the same rebirthdate!!! I 'm just getting home today and I can someone relate to not being able to concentrate as well!!! I haven't ventured getting on the scale since Thursday (the day of surgery) and honestly I'm nervous I feel like i've gained... from the fluids... Well we have to keep in touch throughout this year and share our ups and downs!!!

My mom MADE me get on the scale...I was complaining because I felt so heavy and I swore I gained but I was pleasantly surprised. I got on the scale again today (dont want to make this a habit) and Im actually down 9lbs. Dont be scared. But my origional plan was to wait a week. Oh well I dont have patience! haha Congrats to you tho!! Def keep in touch girl!
