Hi all, I'm home snuggled comfortably on the couch, in minimal pain (gotta love liquid vicadin), no longer nauseated, and very sleepy. So far I'm doing well getting in all my fluids and protein, the vitamin regime begins tomorrow. Everything went very well. My surgery ended up being delayed a couple of hours...that got to be hard, and I ended up beginning to fret towards the end of that time. That was tough. The only complication was post surgical extreme nausea, which was treated with much appreciated drugs and seems to have subsided. A couple of useful tips: For the painful hiccups you might have post op, do a workout with your spirometer (the breathy thing) - got rid of them every time for me. If you are in pain, LET THEM KNOW IT. I didn't realize that I was supposed to ask for pain meds after they took me off the PCA drip. I thought they'd just bring it to me when it was time. I was in pretty bad pain by the time I ask, and in pretty much excruciating pain by the time they finally brought it to me (another story for another time...). Then it was really hard to get under control. SO, be your own advocate - if you're in pain, ask for meds. Don't try to tough it out, that just leads to nausea and even some cramping - not good. Crying HURTS post op. Don't get to that point! Ice chips are from heaven. As soon as you can have them, keep a steady flow going into your mouth. If you have gas pain, try to lay on the side where the pain is. The gas will move and distribute and ultimately be much better. And of course, sip sip sip, walk walk walk, sleep sleep sleep. Margaret

Wooooooooohooooooo Margaret!!!! I am so happy to here from you girlfriend!!! I am glad you are doing well. Sorry about the pain thing...that bites. My nurse at surgical testing told me to be very vocal if the pain meds weren't working or I need more. With the fibromyalsia my pain volume is turned way up so I just need to be assertive when it comes time to pain meds. Nice to here you are all snuggled up Can't wait till I get there. Thanks for all the great tips too!!! Wooooot you are on the losen side now!! Love ya, Anna
