second day post op
I am going to suggest the obvious but perhaps you should contact your surgeons office to find out. I know gas can literally be a "stinker" so-to-speak and quite painful. Never hurts to let them know.
My friend had the RNY surgery on 1/10/07 and she still has some gas issues although they seem to slowly be improving.
I am going to say that is pretty normal. Even though I had RNY, I experienced the same gas problems you have. It took me about 3-4 days to start feeling relief. Gas-X strips seemed to work well for me. The main thing is you need to get up and move around as much as possible. It gets the gas moving and eventually it comes out
I wish you much success, and lots of relief from the gas. Let me know if you have any other questions, and let us know how you are doing.

Hello Mike,
I was banded on 1/18. I started to experience gas pains before I was d/cd from the hospital. So I got up and started to walk walk walk.I also brought my gas x-strips with me that helped a whole lot. Today I'm feeling alot better but still have the gas pains but not as bad. So the best thing to do is to start moving as much as you can tolerate. As for the liquids I don't think i'm getting all the fluid in, but I think this is normal in the beginning as we are trying to adjust with our new band.I forgot to mention I have been lying on my side which seems to help move the gas out. maybe you can try this if you'r not feeling to much discomfort.
