I was released from the hospital this evening, and the pain is ridiculous. I can't seem to get comfortable...laying down flat becomes very uncomfortable....leaning on pillows makes my back hurt....about the only thing I find that's comfortable is sitting straight up.... Anyone have any ideas?????

Pain meds, take them. I know I was at my wits end because I couldn't find a comfortable way to lay. It may be a few days until you are comfortable, so just hang tight, each day will get better. Diane

I was banded on the 17th. I went through the same pain and I'm taking the precribed pain meds. I ended up having to sleep in my recliner sitting upright. This morning I seem to still be in a lot of pain. The pain is mostly at the access port and seems to be where the band was placed. Hope this is normal.

Marie, I was banded on the 15th.....and I too had to sit up to sleep. Last night was the first night i could lay down and I woke up about 4 hours after I fell asleep to my left lower stomach cramping up and I had to sit up for the rest of the night. It will get better. Good luck! PS I am already down 3.4 lbs.!! Who would have thought! Carroll

As for not laying down, our surgeon at her bariatric center only allows us to be flat in bed riight after surgery for a few hours. There is a recliner chair in the room that you are to spend most of your time in, when your not up walking around. Believe it or not, even though it will hurt to get up even out of the recliner, it's better than from a laying down position. You should have been given a RX for liquid pain medication, that will help quite a bit. The more you do move around the better ir will be for you. I watched my husband go through this and it did work for him. I hope you feel better soon, everyone says it doesn't last too long. See yourself a few months from now, how much happier you will be!

Thank you all for the advice... am happy to report that yesterday was just blur thanks to the pain meds... today was almost a complete 180. I feel much better, have better range of movement.
