I have been having a huge craving for a nice soft boiled egg, can we eat them yet? Nowhere on my list from the doctor does it mention I can't, but it doesn't say I can either. I think I am stressed to try to add things to my diet but too afraid to go to far. Has anyone tried anything off the liquid route, and how did ya do? Thanks Crystal

Hi Crystal - I had surgery the same day as you and I have been eating pureed food since I left hospital, even in hospital. Mind you it is only tbps. at a time, but very satifiying. I had 1 scrambled egg this morning - very soft, it took me 1/2hr to get it down but I did. I tasted fine. I also have had nonfat cheese w/ nonfat refried beans, thinned down w/ chx. broth. Last night I pureed the same chx and carrots I made for my family . I do cottage cheese, applesauce, baby fruit and veggies and meats. I even had canned chx pureed w/ reduced fat mayo. So far everything has stayed down and tasted like heaven. My doctors want you on pureed food as soon as possible. They even said i could try pureed chili. Like said i only eat 2 - 4 tbps of food at a time and only 3 times a day. the rest of the day i sip on protein dirinks, water, broth, hot chocolate ect..... Hope this helps Marta

I had surgery last Tuesday and was having a near impossible time with protein drinks. Yesterday I refused to eat so I called my doctor and he said that it is near impossible to get all those protein drinks in and maybe I should try eggs. He told me in the first few weeks we are so swollen ane introduce things slowly. If it does not agree with you wait a couple weeks and try again. I am so glad i tried eggs I finally feel good. It also gave me so much energy. I do not see why it would be a problem.

I am so glad to hear of some of the things you are eating Marta, it was helpful to see that you are eating blended foods. Thank you for the egg info. I am really been dying to have an egg, must be the lack of protien in me. I just can't and won't get the protien shakes in me for anything. They make me feel awful and I feel awful enough without help. I think I am going to give an egg a try tomorrow. Thanks again Vanessa and Marta Crystal 244/229/125

I would think its safe for you to try eggs. Sprinkle them with some shredded cheese for some extra protein. If you're having trouble getting your protein in.. have you considered trying profect or the vials of protein from bariatriceatting.com? Profect has 25 g of protein per 3 oz.. and the ones from bariatriceatting have ones with 25g and 42 g's of protein per 3oz. I just ordered some profect.. and will be ordering some of the 42g stuff soon.

First, Congratulations on your surgery. I envy all of you!!!!!!!!!! I'm not writing about eggs, but I read your post and those that repsonded. I wanted to ask recent WLSers a question. I am preparing for surgery now, and have a questions for you? How much time do you really need for recovery after surgery. I want to work 11 days after surgery. I'm a high school English teacher, so I can limit my movement during the day for a while. What do you all think?
