My surgery is on 01/17/07. I had to give my surgeon 2500.00 up front before he would do the surgery. I did that on Friday and then had to go over to the Hospital to do PAT(Pre-admission test)They informed me that they needed $300.00 additional dollars(my deductible)before surgery. I don't have and I don't know anybody that does. They claim that they can't bill me because this is considered an elective surgery. I am going to call my insurance company and find out if their is anything that can be done since the hospital is a contracted provider. Please pray for me

I will remember you in my prayers. Actually I say a prayer for all. When God closes a window my Grandmother always said. So does my Mother. Hugs and much success to you.

If you don't mind me asking what kind of insurance do you have that you have to give a surgeon 2500.00 up front? You should only have a deductable if you have a HMO and if it is a PPO then a copay and a percent most time there is a out of pocket limit of 1200.00 to 3000.00 but most time the lower. If you need help checking out your insurance let me know. Is your surgeon "in network? " If he isn't then that is why you are paying so much. I would find someone in network.

PS also if all else fails have your doctor speak to the hospital on your behalf or speak to the chief financial officer every hospital has one ask him to let you make a downpayment and sign a agreement to make payments. Most will go for it as good customer service especially if you go to administration in person and make them feel a inch tall, now a days hospitals will bend over backwards to get insuranced business
