I HATED the first week! I didnt like Jello at all, but I did use popsicles. Instead of getting bored sucking on them all day, I would take 1/3-1/2 of a popsicle and blend it with 1 or 2 ice cubes to make a mini slurpee. It was a change. I picked up some Egg Drop soup from the local Chinese place, and had that in my first week, egg pieces and all. (they are so small and smooth, so I wasnt worried) For protein, Ive been using a couple shots of Isopure Zero carb juice poured over crushed ice, each bottle has 40g's of pro and counts as liquid too. I just decided a couple of days ago to move onto my FULL liquids & soft foods (week 2), but I am struggling abit with flaked chicken. I included some cheeses, some extra cream soups, Tuna w/ lite mayo, Danon Light & Fit Yogurt (blueberry is delish!), I am even having Saltine Crackers with some cheese (or peanut butter) spread!! The crackers break down really well in water, so apparently they are safe at this stage of the diet. Ive had less problems with crackers than I have with flaked chicken and tuna. I cant wait to be out of these stages!! ~Anissa

Crystal, I had lapband surgery 1/3/07. I have been drinking cream of chicken soup which is very nourishing and filling. I make a big protein shake in the morning using 2 cups of skim milk, Herballife protein vanilla and abig scoop of chocolate protein too. I add crushed ice and make it into a milk shake. 1/2 I drink for breakfast. The other I eat for supper. I freeze it, so it's really good at night. I have 1 can of cream of chicken soup a day in 2 servings. I have sugar free jello, pudding and yogurt. I also have some instant grits thatI've eaten 2 times. So far I'velost 18 pounds. The protein shakes are the best. They help you lose weight fast. And I add Crystal light orange to every bottle of water so it takes like something good. Don't give up. I go to the dr Monday and I hope they'll give me permission to start on solid food. skinny lady inside07

Dianne, Happy banding! We have the same bandiversary! FYI...protein breaks down after about an hour so by saving it for dinner, you aren't getting the best possible protein you can. It might be a better idea to try to make two different shakes. Great job on your losing!! I am at the same place...18#. It's a great feeling isn't it? Tina

Is there an amount of food difference that we can consume between a Lapband and an RNY patient? You're drinking a full cup of protein.. and a full cup of soup in one sitting? How long does it take to fini**** IF thats what we're supposed to be taking in.. no wonder Im fricken starving with my 2-3 oz. servings 3x a day.

Anissa I believe you will not be taking in what a banded person can but I also believe you are supposed to eat like 5 meals since you cannot get enough in per sitting. I would definitely call your doc and find out how much he wants you to have. Remember protein first that is going to help you heal and use up the fat stored not the muscle. Hope this helps!! You should not be hungry at any time during this stage. Also if you are drinking with meals don't that takes up space you need to fill with protein. Stop drinking a 30 min before and don't drin****il 60 min after otherwise the food you just ate will be flushed and you will be hungry all the time. Anna

Thanks Anna, Well honestly, its probably just head hunger I am battling, and you are probably right about the 5x a day meals. I suppose I could count it as 5x if I include other protein juices and stuff I have been counting as liquids. Ahhhh it will be so much easier to calculate once I move up to real foods. Protein is always first for me. ~Anissa
