5 more days!
I am in the home stretch now, the waiting is almost over! Surgery is some time wednesday and I am getting SOOO nervous! I am obsessed with reading everyone's profiles and posts and I find out the most useful information and then things Id rather not read (uhm someone waking up DURING surgery? didnt think that was possible!!). But Im being brave and remembering the reasons that I made this decision in the first place. Im just so thankful that I have all of you for support through this. Never hesitate to drop me a line or comment. I love hearing from you all.
Just a few questions:
1. What is on your shopping list for the first couple weeks post-op?
2. What are you bringing to the hospital with you?
Okay thats all I can think of right now. I wish everyone the best of luck with their upcoming surgeries!! And I hope the newly post-ops are recovering well! God Bless us all. This is going to be an amazing and scary year!! How excitinggg. LOTS OF LOVE!!
Angela
Hiyas Angela, woooooohoooo almost there girl. Then you will be on your way to a new thinner healthier you!!! I'll be keeping you in my thoughts and prayers on your big day!! So far I am hearing that it not as bad as everyone thinks going in. I need to find out what to take as well, I'm a week after you. Your nutritionist should have given you a list of what you can have. Take care, I'm off to work.
Anna
Thank you so much!! Im trying to stay really positive about it because its what you make of it I guess. I hope we both have smooth surgeries and quick and uneventful recoveries! My nutritionist did give me a list of stuff to get but its a really short list because they dont even tell you what you can have on the next stages until after you have your follow-up appointment with them. Id rather just go to the store once but so far I think Im good. Just lots of cottage cheese, yogurt, and eggs.
Hi Angela! My surgery is the same day as yours. On my shopping list for the first couple of weeks, Note: I'll be on Stage 3, soft foods before I leave the hospital:
Already purchased:
Flinstone Complete vitamins
Rexall B12 sublingual supplement (bought at Walmart)
Upcal Calcium Citrate powder
Unjury Protein powders
SmartForme protein drinks (YUMMY! I hope I still like these after surgery)
Still to buy:
SF Jello
SF Pudding
SF Popsicles
Chicken and beef broth (Campbells has more protein per serving than Swanson's)
Low Carb Yogurt
Low Fat Cottage Cheese
Canned Chicken
Canned Tuna
Salmon
Fish
Skim milk (yucky now! hoping I'll like it on the other side!)
Powdered Milk (for a protein boost to food)
Low Fat/Fat Free Mayo
Low Fat/FF Ranch Dressing
FF Gravy
Walmart brand Crystal lite type drinks (they taste MUCH better than Crystal Lite!).
I think that's basically it.
I plan to take to the hospital:
My pillow
Slippers
Maybe a robe
Toothbrush/toothpaste
Chapstick
My brush
Pads/tampons just in case
Clean undies
Magazines to flip through
A book
Bible
Note pad and paper
Maybe a picture of my kids and grandchild.
My Surgery notebook (includes all my surgery info, a list of drugs I'm allergic to, etc.)
I'll wear in the comfy clothes that I plan to wear home.
Anyone else have some other suggestions? Any of you post ops have any tips??
Margaret
Wow same day surgery buddies!! I wish you tons of luck and an uneventful surgery!! I have just about all that you do on on my shopping list as well. Good tip about the campbells broth I didnt know that!
Im pretty much just bringing:
a pillow
iPod
phone numbers of friends
change of underwear
hairbrush
toothbrush & toothpaste
lipgloss
deoderant
digital camera
I was told that any books wouldnt be used because your so loopy or tired from the meds and you dont want to be bothered. I was going to bring slippers but I think I'll be fine with the slipper socks the hospital provides. Im trying to pack as light as possible and I think Im just having my mom bring that stuff to me later on or the next day instead of bringing a bag with me, just less to worry about!
I wish you the best!!
