I'm one, my date is Jan 26th. By senior, I mean I am over 55...my entire reason for having this surgery is for quality of life issues. I want to be around to see my new grandson, now 7 months old, grow up. I also want to be able to go and do any physical activity I would like. I find myself not even going to a shopping center because it's so painful walking any distance at all.
I have not been this overweight for too long. The last 5 years and most recently the last 2 years have really gotten out of control.
I am looking forward to the surgery on the 26th to start a new way of living. It's going to be harder for us because we are older and will not bounce back as easily as some of the other people on this board.
My husband who is 58 had the same surgery (lap-band) on Nov. 6th, has lost over 55 lbs now, has gone from a size 48 pants, down to a 40. He hasn't felt this good in about 10 years. Just getting in and out of the car is so much easier for him, and he's having a good time trying on the smaller size clothing in his closet as he's melting. He probably has about 40 pounds more to go, and he has no fear he won't be able to maintain the loss.
He's been telling me, the first week you feel weak and lousy, after that you start getting stronger. The first month on soft proteins, sucks for lap-band people, but after that you can enjoy most of what you did before, only a lot less!
If you want to communicate with him directly I can give you his email in a private message. Just send me yours in a private message to me.
Good Luck, on the journey to a healthier life.
