Anissa is home in need of prayers and good thoughts!!
I read her post and responded to her. I have to tell you I think a lot of what happened to her could have been avoided if she had been cleared by a pulmonary doctor. The majority of people that are overweight have at least mild sleep apnea, when the muscles collapse and you stop breathing after surgery it's the same thing. If a sleep study had been done it would have been discovered, if not when she had an EKG clearance. I think some of the bariatric doctor's are in too big a hurry to do the surgery and do not do all they can to make sure it's safe for their patient. People may disagree with me, but if she had been told to bring her CPAP with her to surgery she wouldn't have had the problem of breathing. I hope her doctor refers her to a Pulmonary Specialist, he may not though if he thinks it will show some neglegance on his part. She really had and is still having a rough time. I hope she'll be alright.....I'm glad she posted.
I'm also glad I'm with Dr. Blackstone, she is extremely careful and explores every avenue she feels could be any kind of a problem.
That's why I'm glad my doc had me do a sleep study. I have very very mild sleep apnea not enough to warrent a cpap but the doc said it was something that the surgeon and anesthesiologist (sp) needs to know since my oxygen levels dropped as well. I was glad to know just so I can let hubby know and to talk to the anesth. about it as well. The sleep doc said I may need to be on oxygen after the surgery for a bit. I will continue to keep Anissa in my thoughts and prayers.
