5 days post-op
Hello everyone,
I had the Lap Band on December 26, 2006 and am debating about going back to work. I did very well, I think, but am a little sore yet. This a.m. I could not really pull my pants on without some pain, but tonight was picking up something off the floor. My staples are a little irritating now and then. I am scheduled to return to work on Wednesday the 3rd. I'm debating on whether to take Wed-Friday off as I have not missed any work yet (I work at a school and scheduled this on purpose). I have a pretty high stress job and am thinking I should take the extra days but am feeling guilty! From looking at the IA posts, it appears most people are pre-surgery yet. Good luck to all of you! It is a little scary, no doubt. In the end, just know you will be fine. I am still waiting for feeling really good about my decision. I have lost weight already, but still am doubting my decision. In the end, I know I will be happy, but for now...it is tough. I think being on liquids through the holidays, and then last night with New Year's Eve...no drinking...no going out for supper...all the things I love to do on New Years's Eve was hard. I was the DD which is fine but hard watching everyone eating and having a great time.

TH, cheer up, it will be so worth it! Its normal to feel this way, but you are not alone. And thank God we only do this once in life, and there will be many celebrations to come. The holidays are over and you have so much good to look forward to. Keep your chin up, and Happy New Year, and New you!

I would take the days off, it's your time to relax and pamper yourself a little. The first month is so important in the healing process. I watched my husband slowly ease back into things. Your not to lift anything during this time, not even grocery bags, so why not sit back, put your feet up and read a good book, try to not feel guilty, you deserve this time in your life to take care of yourself.
I know it must have been hard to not participate in the Holiday eating and drinking, but to miss a couple of days out of the rest of your new life is a small price to pay for a healthier you! We didn't do anything for New Year's either and I haven't had my surgery yet, I thought I would really miss it, but it was surprisingly uneventful. When you know what your doing is best for your long term health, it makes it a lot easier.
Good Luck and keep telling yourself how much you deserve this time for you.
