Did anyone put on weight before the surgery. From my start of the process in October to now I have put on 20lbs. I have the fear of not being able to eat the same foods. I have read all these post of having to take off weight and I have never heard of it. I knew I had to do the pre surgery diet but no one said anything about taking off weight. I go on Tuesday to the dietitian and I am a little freaked out that they will push my surgery back since I have gained. I know you have to lose to shrink your liver but why else do they ask people to lose before being approved?
I have put on 33 lbs since I started the process in June. It was a combo of "last times" and of having quit smoking. I was weighed in the first week of december prior to them scheduling my surgery and I was still approved for it and now have a scheduled date. I'm trying really hard not to gain anymore than what I already have. I don't have to do a liquid diet or anything prior to surgery...just clear liquids 24 hours prior to surgery. Every surgeon requests different things I think.
My DR requires you to loose weight before and if you dont they will resched. I havent been doing the "last tastes" so Ive been ok so far. I have lost 4 pounds since the begining of Dec and I changed what I eat.
I eat either regular oatmeal that you cook on the stove, plain, or a bowl of kashi for breakfast.
A baked chicken brest (lemon juice, onion and garlic powder not salt) and romaine lettuce with 1 tablespoon each of red wine vinegar and low fat blue cheese dressing.
More baked chicken with brown rice and steamed brocoli.
I eat oranges as a snack and that ususaly kills my sweet craving.
I hope this helps. I dont look at it as I will be missing but what I will be gaining and that helps me get through the cake and other cravings.
Well I was shocked to find out on my consultation visit that I had to lose 15 pounds before surgery (which is only 3 weeks away). I have gained 28 pounds since January 2006, which was when I went to the Informational Session for bariactrics. So they've told me I had to lose at least 15 lbs or no surgery..... I've waited too long and wanted this too bad to get that suprise...so I'm trying hard now...they put me on the properative diet the same day so I pray my metabolism works with it and helps break down some of this fat ...QUICKLY!!!
