A Couple of Fun Questions
Thought it would be fun to get to know each other a little and came up with a few fun questions.
* What is the one food you will miss?
* What is one thing you are looking forward to after weight loss (other than better health)
* Are you telling people, or keeping it to yourself?
* Are you planning a last hurrah meal before the big day?
Here are my answers:
* What is the one food you will miss?
I will totally miss my Diet Coke and Lindt Chocolate
* What is one thing you are looking forward to after weight loss (other than better health)
I am looking forward to shopping in a dept other than the Plus section and I am looking forward to being able to ride bikes with my daughter.
* Are you telling people, or keeping it to yourself?
I have told a handful of people. My best friend in the world is so against this surgery, that I have not told her yet. Other than those few I have told, I am not broadcasting it.
* Are you planning a last hurrah meal before the big day?
Kind of. I plan on going to my favorite resturant with my husband about a week before the surgery. Also wanted to get thru all the holiday eating before I scheduled a date.
So that is me, what about you? Please feel free to add your own questions to the end of this and we can keep it going. Nice to meet you all
Crystal
* What is the one food you will miss?
Probably bread, a glass of good wine on occassion, and chocolate - Lindt is my favorite too!! I'm hoping against hope that I can still have a piece infrequently.
* What is one thing you are looking forward to after weight loss (other than better health)
My knees not hurting....but that's health related! I think getting out of the car gracefully would be high up there on the list. Fitting into "normal" size clothes, losing my double chin....that kind of thing.
* Are you telling people, or keeping it to yourself?
That's tough. I'm telling my immediate family and some close friends. Other than that I just can't handle worrying about what other people think of me. I know I shouldn't care, but I do.....so I won't be telling many people.
* Are you planning a last hurrah meal before the big day? Nope. I'm plugging along as best I can, just trying to be healthy and get as healthy as I can before surgery.
Hi Crystal, I love this board...nice to meet you and I live your questionarre.
I will miss Pepsi the most I think
Shopping for all new clothes and riding my horse (more than the 5 times a year I do now
I said I was not going to tell people when this all started but I have gotten pretty open about it. The people I am definately NOT telling (at least not before the surgery) are my mom and my inlaws...niether would be supportive about a surgery.
I have not really thought about a"last meal" ))
*What is the one food you will miss?
Hmmm Rootbeer and pizza
* What is one thing you are looking forward to after weight loss (other than better health)
Lol I am looking forward to having people look at me with dang she looks good instead of what I fear they are saying...you know like sheesh can't she control herself around food. That and really being able to play with my 5 year old and not putting him off because I don't feel good or if I go out in the heat I get a migraine.
* Are you telling people, or keeping it to yourself?
Yes I am telling people. I really don't care if they think badly of me for doing it. My true friends don't think that they just want me to be healthy and I have received nothing but support from the people I have told. Heck after I have it I am going to be sporting an obesityhelp T-shirt. I want others who have suffered the way we do to know there is help. If not surgery then support.
* Are you planning a last hurrah meal before the big day?
No not really my favorite is pizza and I have been able to have it and still lose weight...moderation is the key. In fact I took my son there last night to use his book-it coupon and had a Salad and small bread sticks. I am trying to lose as much as I can so have really been watching what I eat.
Sorry my answers were kind of long but well that's me
Anna
Crystal,
Your quetions are fun, but some I"ve wondered about. My date is 1/26 and I've been thinking about what will be the hardest to give up in the beginning.
For me it will be Coffee in the morning, and Diet Mountain Dew! I know that's wierd, but I need something to wake me up to go into work. I don't need coffee at any other time, and I already drink lots of water, but go figure.....
Looking forward to being able to walk around a shopping mall without my back killing me with all the extra weight. I'm about 250 and only 5'6". that may not seem like a lot but it's too much for my frame. I would like to be able to buy clothes in a department store as well without going to the plus sizes. To be normal would be nice. Also, when traveling, I hate planes, the seats are so narrow, I always worry the seat belt may not fit, I've never had to ask for an extension, but I see the looks from people when I get on the plane. It could be my imagination, but to not feel that way would be nice.
A lot of people I work with found out about this that I didn't realize knew. It's okay, they all seem very curious about it and say they don't think I need this. If they knew how much I had to loose they would! All of the kids, in laws, etc. are extremely supportive. My hubby just had lap-band and doing so well, so naturally he can't wait for me to have this. We wnted to do this together as we couldn't imagine one being on such a restrictive program and the other having a T-Bone steak at dinner! He would want to reach across the table and choke me!!!!
We did a big hurrah before my husband's surgery, a couple of nights before. We were both almost sick the food was so rich. Even though we're overweight, we do not eat a lot of rich food, so it kind of told us how ready we were for this.
I can't think of anything negative about the surgery and life after, I am totally ready to go forward as soon as the last of my tests are completed.
Thanks Crystal, good idea you had with this.

Carole, hi there. I am the same way with the coffee. I used to drink a pot a day. Just in the morning. I started by cutting 3 mugs to 2. Then one day when I ran out of creamer I just decided well now is a good time. So I quit that day. Then next time I went to the store I got decaf and I make it on the weekends...nothing better then getting up on a Saturday and Sunday with my cup of coffee and the computer. I really haven't noticed that much of a difference. I hope this helps, oh and when you cut it completely out make sure you do it on a day you are off just in case you get a headache.
Hi Crystal,
Fun topic..
Diet Coke. I'm an addict. It's the caffeine I suppose. But I'm going to miss getting the 'high' from overeating anything.
I'm going to love being comfortable in my body. Probably take a dance class. Be more active with my kids, ice skate, roller blade, ride bikes etc... I'm going to run in my towns 5k Labor day marathon!!! Oh yeah!!
Only Mother and sister know and are very supportive. My ex knows and has started to be more supportive recently now that he knows more about it. Of course his whole family knows since once word gets out there everyone knows. I'm not telling anyone at work. I might after surgery.
My last meal might be a big juicy steak and potato at a rediculously expensive NYC steak joint. Ummmm... I'm dreaming of it now. Food consumes me.
What is the one food you will miss? Pizza
* What is one thing you are looking forward to after weight loss (other than better health) Having more energy and be able to ride a bike
* Are you telling people, or keeping it to yourself? I have only told a few people.
* Are you planning a last hurrah meal before the big day? Yes, going to Outback!
