Since I see that others are 're-appearing', I figure I would 're-appear' as well. My challenge at the moment is trying to get over the FLU. I didn't get a flu shot and got the flu BIG TIME. I am on my third week of it. I went to the doctor right away so she gave me a prescription for Tamiflu - but it didn't work . Apparently my pouch doesn't allow for absorption of the medication - so all the doctor can do is treat the symptoms.
I hope the rest of you are doing well and that the flu bug stays away from you........this stuff is NASTY.

Topic: RE: Rice
Tiff,
I love rice and it helps me with my fiber and the constipation issue. I only cook brown rice at home so, I eat brown rice 95% of the time. I normally do not use the instant varieties, just the long cook ones and I make both short grain and long grain. I did pick up some susmi rolls from Costco for the Super Bowl. Of course, they are made with white rice. I can eat 3 of them and then feel full. I do not experience any side affects that have pain associated with them. I think I have a pouch of steel, nothing bothers me as it relates to pain. Occasionally, it seems that I will react hypoglycemically (is that a word) with white rice. Now, brown rice takes a lot more to fill me up. Usually, I can eat a cup of BR with nothing else. I usually drink after I eat.
I just heard that instant white rice is almost pure starch (nothing good and grainy is left after they process it) with is fastly converted to sugar.
Sorry you had such a horrible experience!
Wishing you safe travels ...
God Bless!

Rice does well with me...that's part of my problem!!! I get bloated from it later, but it goes down with ease. I honestly don't think it was the rice that gave you that feeling because you only felt it for about 10 mins. Most of the time when people eat those processed, enriched, refined foods they get that belly pain and bloated look and feel for longer than 10 mins. Maybe it was something else??? I would try it one last time to see if that was actually culprit unless you don't even wanna go there and find out you actually be able to eat it! Then you'll eat it all the time (like me)! I honestly don't eat white rice that often, but at least a couple times a month. Fried rice and me get along also...bad bad.

Topic: RE: Food addicts......unite!
I am a carb addict, sugar is a very scaring thing. I find that still I flirt with it, dance around it and tetter on the edge of the abyss. Let me tell you it has an alure like no other. I have to tell about my one night stand with an old lover.... I had dinner at a friends, she likes to pour the wine while we cook. We had been to Christian workshop where the man speaking when on and on about a cake his wife made. Is he crazy? Does he not know that hundreds, no thousands of ladies left that arena with cake on their minds. I don't remember the details of the semon, but I can tell you about the cake he described. Well my friend (a foodie) had to bake that cake, I won't describe it, I want this to be"G" rated, well I had a couple of glasses of wine and when the cake was served, YEE HAW, I dove into that cake like it was an olympic pool from the high dive. I went from a little punchy drunk to drunk dump... I was on the floor wishing I could die. People in AA call alcohol Cunning, Baffling and Powerful, I say sugar is all that and more. Just think if the serpent would have offered Eve a Twinkee or a Snickers bar, where would we be now.
Topic: A little late, Congratulations
Here to wish all the Jan 06 friends a great big CONGRATULATIONS! I have been so bad, I haven't logged in for months. I hope everyone is doing great. I am holding my own with a total loss of over 100 lbs. I went down to 122 and that was too thin for me, now I am at 133 and really want to settle in to 128. No worries, I just like the sound of the 20's. God bless you all. J. Marie

Tiffany,
One bite of rice will be okay and the next will kill me. I have decieded to not eat it as I can't tell when it's going to turn on me!
Pasta is another suprise food. I can eat shells and cheese from the box but can't eat pasta in an adult dish! Go figure. So this is another food I avoid.
Potatoes, mashed good, baked okay sometimes, fried in any way, immediate and total regret with first or second swallow!
Oh, the joys of pouchie!
