Hello everyone! Sorry it has been a while I swear I think today I am going to be more active on the board or I read someones story and think when I have time I am going to post something. I never seem to have the time. I am Very Sorry for that. Here is some insite from my Doctor (you can take what you want from this).

1.) After the first year you should not be doing protien drinks.
Protien drinks will cause you to gain weight.

2.) Carbs caused you to gain and keep your weight on before surgery it will after your surgery.
Try to stay away from anything high in starch and carbs.

3.) Salads are not good for bypass patients, they have no nut. value. They are good if you have to fill you up but you do not want your pouch full and they will pass quickly.

4.) A person does not need more than 1200 cal. a day to live on. Becareful not to drink your cals. Becareful how you use your cals. and if you still want to loss weight 1000 cals a day will be ok.

5.) You should not be eating more than three times a day. There should be no snacking.

I know this works. I had my surgery 01-26-06 I weight 653lbs day of surgery at my lowest 149 and now 170. So something is working.

Hi Melissa,
Kudos on the great success, and for sharing the update on eating. I think we start to feel we're"fixed" but only as long as we remember the rules we agreed to live by before our surgery.
I too have gained- and said STOP! I joined a gym (a couch potato) and got a trainer.  So I'm working on my core and back to basics. Now, working on the emotional eating and making progress. This is my life, and i'm happy - don't want to go back.  My favorite thought has become
being thinner is better than this will taste.

Hey Melissa!

Thanks for those important reminders.  After three years, it is easy to fall back into old patterns.  And, while I probably won't follow all the reminders you gave us, I will try to remember some of them!!

Thanks for posting and congratulations (again) on your amazing success!!!

Hugs,
JM

I have broken ALL of your surgeons rules but all surgeons, doctors and nutritionist have different rules so I cant say yours is wrong and mine is right!
