I had my RNY in Jan 2006 my weight was 240 went down to 151, but the weight was hard to come off, I workout everyday, only ate what I was suppose to eat but still end up gaining weight. I have not stretch my stomach. I am now weighing at 195. What am I doing wrong or did surgery fail me?

Sounds like you're doing everything right. If you're working out, you have gained muscle. Go by how you feel in your clothes. I gained about 20 lbs. from my lowest and am still wearing the same clothes (though a lil snug with some!). Other than that, definitely check with your doc! April

A couple of things, eating the right stuff, but is it the right amount? Do you still measure everything? Do you keep track of every calorie you eat? Are you drinking calories? Are you eating sugar? Yes it is possible for the surgery to fail, very rare though. There can be other problems too. Thyroid is one. Hace you been having your labs done? One of the things with the weightloss is that the empty fat cells are still there and want to be filled. So unless you had plastics, they are going to try to hord fat. So even a little sway from the path with cause weight gain. The number one reason for failure of this surgery is eating sugar. From day one, we absorb every bit of it. Second is drinking your way out, protein drinks are a great example. They were a help at first, but they are high in calories. We can drink alot more because it goes right thru. Booze is another thing to watch out for. As you get intoxicated, your choices turn bad. You end up drinking more in calories than you realize. But the biggest thing is keeping up with your doc. It sounds like you might not be doing this. If you are imbarrassed about the weight gain, as some have been, stop sabatoging yourself. The only one who can really help is your doc. So give them a call. Make sure you have a detailed list of everything you eat in a day, amounts are important. Hope you find the answer.
