Plastic surgery
Hello!
I had my first consultation today and it didn't go at all how I expected it to go!
I learned that insurance will not pay for a LBL or a abdominoplasy but will pay for a panniectomy.(I know a couple of people told me that) If I get the panniectomy, I will probably have to have a couple more surgeries after that to clean up and tighten up a bit. He said i will be tight and have way less skin but probably not the results that I'm looking for with the panni removal! I'm not wanting all these different surgeries plus a breast lift, thigh lift and the arms.
At this point, i feel like I'm gonna be stuck with all this skin forever! I want a second opinion but cant afford to pay for all these different consultations!

Hey Kay,
I just sent an email to a local surgeon that specializes in WLS patients to find out if he would consider doing a panni piggybacked to my c-section in december.
I would love a LBL but cannot justify spending that kind of money. I think a panni is a good place to start especially if the insurance covers it. I would like the LBL b/c I have this tire that goes all the way around and the LBL would take care of that. I would settle for the panni to get rid of the overhang.
Here there are several docs that go to support groups and give talks. If you have something like that in your area, maybe you could attend and get a "general opinion" rather than a detail consultation.
May I ask, how much are the consults there? I heard that they are about 250 a pop here. And insurance will not pay.
God Bless!
Jen
Aw, Sweetie... I'm sorry you're dissapointed. I had to have the panni removal and was not happy at all. BUT... today I'm WAY better with it and know how to dress with the areas that still need to be addressed. For me, I needed the skin gone so I could live- I back into the Morbid Obese setting with the limits on my mobility and whatnot.
I made sure to go to surgeons who didn't collect consultation fees... are there any in your area?
