Get your Vit-D and B12 levels checked. ALL OLD TIMERS!! You can gain weight!
I had my RNY Jan 23 2006, Tummy tuck April 16 2007 and lost a total of 140lbs. BUT I have gained about 38lbs back and felt like a FAILURE!!!!!!!!
I have had some new things come up recently. I have been really frustrated by me gaining some weight back. But I felt so tired, NOT wanting to do anything really. No desire to get up and exercise or anything. Right after surgery I had NO complications what so ever and was very happy I did have the surgery. Never have I regretted it.
So when I went to my Dr. 1 month ago I told her and she said she wanted to run some tests for me, just to see if I was deficient in anything and also check my thyroid.
Well results came back, my thyroid is fine.
Normal levels for vitamin D is 20-100 and my level was 9. (SUPER LOW)
Normal levels for B12 is 200-1100 and mine was 169.
So she said that was probably the cause of my fatigue. So she prescribed me 50,000IU vitamin D to take 2 times a week and 1,000IU OTC everyday.
Then I was getting B12 shots every 6 months at Duke, she wants me to get one every month.
Now after 12 weeks I go back for more lab tests to see what my levels will be at.
Also my dang migraines and BAD nausea from the migraines don't help much with NOT wanting to do anything.
I have come too far to let this beat me. I have a wedding in a year, I want to TRY and look beautiful in my wedding dress. (Our wedding is April 4 2009)
Good news is I have already lost 8lbs.
So now it is a struggle and you do have to work at it, also GET your b-12 and vitamin D levels CHECKED!!!!!!!!!
Hi Melissa,
I can totally relate to your story. I am currently taking 3 Citracal +D tablets a day, 1000mg. additional vitamin D, 2 Iron & B12 tablets a day & every Saturday I take 50,000IU vitamin D. My levels were also very low & in 3 weeks I go for labs to get checked again. If I'm still low I will have to have injections.
Congrats on the 8lbs, that is a great start. You will look beautiful in your wedding dress.
Take care,
Carly
