Plastic surgery
Well, I'm really ready to have PS and hernia repair and have been reading about the different surgeries. I want the LBL but it looks like insurance wont pay for the LBL. Anybody heard or know? I cant see just having my panni removed and still being stick with a flabby and big muffin top. I will be so "uneven". Up top sticks out pretty far now because of the hernia but onces the hernias are removed, it's still a lot of skin threre.
I know someone just had a LBL a couple months ago but don't remember who? Who are you? LOL. Did insurance pay or was that out of pocket.
I've been afraid but now I'm ready.. tired of the skin and saggy boobs!

Kay, I had a lbl in November. It's so nice having a flat stomach area. I'm getting my arms and upper area taken care of this summer. If you can do at least a belt lipectomy (all across front...includes panni, tummy tuck) will take care of whole front. It would be worth financing if you have to. It probably wouldn't be too much out of pocket since you're already paying hospital, anes., surgeon for the panni time. I would definitely check on the price difference, and if not too much, go for the lbl. You'll be much happier, but anything is better than nothing.

I agree with Karla I had my LBL Jan 07 and love it. I had lot's of issues on the back and thighs and that is what a LBL really does lifts you up all the way around if you have a tummy tuck with muscle tightening it should take care of the whole front, sometimes they do it with an anchor cut or they call it fleur de lis to take care of the muffin portion.
Good Luck

Hey! Glad to hear you are moving forward. It really is what made me feel normal and changed how I saw myself in the mirror.
Insurance paid for the hernia repair and I paid the surgeon for the skin removal.
Let me know if you have any questions. And I will email you some pics if you'd like so you'll see how it works with the drains and all that.
Cheers!
Tiffany
Hey Tiff,
I didn't know you had a hernia. I thought I was the only one from the Jan board. I have 2 and hate the way they stick out!
Yes, I do wanna see pictures.

Hi Kay
I had surgery January 30, 2006 and just went through a extended tummy tuck and public lift to get ride of the extra fat down there.....It is really nice being able to actually see your feet and no hanging skin blocking the view.
I went with a private doctor since both of my insurances refused stating it wasn't necessary or life threatening.
I actually through a company on the web called "Choice Medical" I am really happy I went with them. They help you find a certified doctor in your area. You find out in a few minutes how much the cost is and how much your payments will be. I had to pay for the recovery hospital separate which ran me $800 the first night and $600 the second night. About $12,000 for the procedure, doctor, nurse, meds, all pre and post visits. Oh the fitted girdle to wear afterwards was a extra $75.00.
And scar cream was $60.00/
Good luck with your decision and surgery.....
P.S. You might want to have a family member or friend stay with you about a week. It is really hard to move and those drainage tubes. I actually thought the gastric bypass was easier to go though.
But I would go through it again. It was all worth it....
Take care one of your past secretpals......
