There has been a lot of talk lately (must be the holidays) about stress and it's effect on our weight management. Some think it has a lot to do with it and others think it is just an excuse to blame something else for our failure. What do you think? I am of the group that thinks, no I know, that stress is a major factor in our weight management.

I totaly agree about stress being a major factor. I'm dealing with a lot of it now and my weight has suffered. I use to smoke (almost 3 pks. a day) and that helped with the stress. I use food now. Some turn to booze for stress relief. I am curently taking control and fighting the stress in other ways.

When I'm stressed, I eat! I have been going to a eating disorder therapist for about a month now and it was helped.

Stress absolutely has alot to do with. Many of us used to "medicate" with food. This was how we got comfort, dealt with our nerves, boredom, etc. They told us often that they can fix our plumbing but not our brains. That's why so many of us need to see therepists to deal with the issues that are still with us and make us return to our "bad" habits of comforting ourselves with food. Whoever said that stress has nothing to do with it doesn't have a clue.
