Ok, so I was checking my e-mail and glanced out back and realized the pool cleaner was stuck so I went outside to adjust it, I was outside fiddling with it and the five year old comes out and says we spilt milk on your laptop ! I went inside and sure enough there was milk in the laptop on the counter of course I lit into the 15 year old why did this happen that was so irresponsible and she said her and the 5 year old were tussleing over the oreos and the milk just knocked over. My gripe was hey your 15 she is 5 you should know better and yes I was very angry and even more angry when I took it into the electronics store and they said it wasn't cost effective to fix it they would have to ship it out and replace the motherboard etc etc. I don't usually get so upset and understand when something is dropped and broken or spilt that is just life but this time I was very angry with the 15 year old, Am I right ? Hey Tori, There was a time when I would have done the same thing. But now being older and wiser.. I would stop and ask myself if I was this mad because they spilt the milk...or because it was on MY laptop. Granted she's 15 and "should" have known better but as we all know kids will be kids and accidents happen. Hugs, Anna

I don't think you were selfish Tori...I think 99% of us in the same situation would have reacted the same. Everyone learned a lesson in this..You and the kids ...The kids learned.. DON'T spill something on Mom's PC EVER!! and you learned...it's not about the spilled milk.. Don't be so hard on yourself give them big hugs...tomorrow is a new day! Hugs, Anna

Tori you have every right to be upset....I know my kids get me upset all the time. Especially lately.....My 19 year old is always motherin (and smothering) my 15 year old and then will tattle on him. I get so frustrated I want to scream. Something as expensive as a laptop I would definately go over board. (I just moved my water away from my laptop! I know it is not about the milk but about the 15 year old not thinking about the consequences of her behavior and horseplaying. I am sorry you are out a computer. Another lesson learned hopefully for her too. Sending hugs, Chris ps this is my 3rd time replying and it keeps getting deleted?

Hey Tori: You have my sympathies...I don't know why, but when I have electronics get broken (laptop, iPod, etc.) it makes me a little postal. Now...as far as your reaction. I think it is perfectly reasonable to get upset that your laptop got ruined...I know I would completely blitz if mine did. Having said that, I would not hold onto the grudge. With kids, mistakes happen. It is just the nature of the game. I would go up to your 15-year old and hug them...tell them that you are REALLY bummed about your PC (ask them how they would feel if one of their favorite gadgets got ruined) but tell them that you understand spills happen and you love them. You can even do the same with the 5-year-old. Those are my two cents! Love and hugs, JM

Tori, I don't have children but can sympathize over the loss of your laptop - hug your kids and hope that this is a "teachable" moment about not having liquids close the the computer... Sorry this had to happen! Rhonda
