Home!
Hey Everyone!
I can't thank you enough for the love and support you have given me and Jersey Kid through this really rough time! We came home from the hospital on Friday and, you can well imagine how THRILLED I was to be home!
The hospital trip was a nightmare. The pediatric wing in my hospital is being renovated so we were placed in the temporary pediatric wing on the behavoiral health floor (nice, right?). The last two trips to the hospital were much more tolerable because our room was right next to the pediatric playroom. Well, there was NO playroom in this temporary location. Can you imagine keeping a toddler in one room for almost 4 days?
Once again, it took FIVE men to put the IV in my son. Of course I was bawling my eyes ou****ching them do this but a part of me was smiling, too. My son is so strong! Unfortunately, though, he is also VERY headstrong and hates things on this hands. So...he ended up partially ripping the first IV out! They had to replace it and they put his whole arm in a soft cast so he could not access the line.
This made my boy VERY miserable. Plus, he has never been so sick before. He just kept crying, "I want to go home, Mommy." How is that for heartbreaking? He would not let me leave his side and he insisted on holding my hand the entire time I was there. I swear he thought I would disappear if he let me go.
But the great thing is...we are home. And the universe seems to be balancing out the good and bad things in our lives...
Bad: A 4-day hospital stint for the 3rd year in a row.
Good: He is not so sick that we are still there!
Bad: If I take another day off of work, I will probably be in deep trouble.
Good: My Mom flew up to stay home with my son this week so I would not have to miss more work. My Mom is one of the greatest people in the entire world.
Bad: The transmission in our washing machine crapped out. Had to get a new one.
Good: We won a raffle for a free month's tuition at my son's new day care!!!
Bad: My son seems to get sick at day care all the time.
Good: I just found a new day care that I REALLY like. Instead of 20 kids in my son's class, there will be eight. And, again, before we even started him there, we won one month's tuition (worth over $900!) that we can use any month we like. I hope this is a sign! I just pray that he likes it and is healthy there.
Bad: While we were in the hospital, my son would not let me leave his side.
Good: My WLS surgery made it possible for me to sleep in the hospital crib WITH my son! And it was not too uncomfortable, either!
Just wanted to give you an update. Once again, thank you all SO much for all the love and support you have given us!
We love you!
