Trying to RUN..............

One of the things I have wanted to do since losing the 'weight' is RUN. I love watching people glide through the air as they are running past my house and I wanted to epxerience that just once.......... Yesterday morning was a wonderful day in SW Pennsylvania. It was cool and blue sky and sunshine and I woke up with very vigor. I decided that after I dropped my son off at work that I would go to 'the park' and RUN. My husband and son were their typical unsupportive selves; but I remained UNDAUNTED. I was going RUNNING and NO ONE was going to stop me. I get to the park and stretch and warm up (I've been 'reading' about 'running). I start walking and then walking faster. There was good music on my Walkman and I was really picking up steam. So I thought, 'Here's my chance'.........I started to 'run'.....and I realized that I DON'T KNOW HOW TO RUN........my feet didn't do what they were suppose to - I almost fell down - my arms were out of sync with the rest of me. I felt like a new born giraffe - totally UNCOORDINATED. At the point where I almost fell down for the SECOND time, I said to myself, 'Self, at almost 52 years of age and a doctorate, you are smart enough and old enough to know YOU ARE NOT A RUNNER'. Stop now before you kill yourself'. So I 'stopped' trying to figure out 'running'. Instead, I had a nice fast pace walk through the park. So for those of you who 'run', I envy you. I believe that some of us are born runners and some of us are born walkers and the two are not always interchangable...... Rose from PA

Hi Rose, good for you trying to run. I would be afraid my boobs would knock me out. I do enjoy walking though and am trying to go faster, my lower back is bothering me more though. I thought losing the weight would lessen the pain in my back... You go girl! Hugs, Chris

I am one of those natural born runners, the only problem is the rhumatiod arthritis has put a halt to that. But I do walk. And I need to get started with the exercisising again. But more power to you for trying. Your package will be on its way later this week. Hazel

Well at least you tried! Maybe power walking is more up your alley. I also am totally uncoordinated and now with this balance disorder I have to be very careful at what I choose to do for excersise. It's challenging but you find out what works for you. I do see you power walking though

Rose, I give you extra credit for at least trying! I am too chicken, the one time I attempted it things were flopping around so much I gave up real quick Good for you continuing with the walk, I need to get back into my walking, it's been a LONG time. Karyn
