Protein Shake question for RYP

ok I am gonna give this RYP thing a try Monday morning. So when I had my RNY Jan 2006. I could NOT to save my life do protein drinks, Whey or Soy!! AGHHH NASTY, I just couldn't. The only thing I could do was skim milk with No Sugar added CIB. Now I looked and found some light soy milk that tastes good and more protein than reg skim milk. So my main question is, do you think just the light soy milk with no sugar added CIB (Chocolate or Vanilla) will be ok? I guess its a stupid question since I just can't do any of the whey/soy stuff mixed in, NASTY!!! I mean I will puke just from the taste and texture alone. For my salt fix I have Chicken broth and beef broth. The first 2 days will KILL ME. My biggest problem will be the chewing. Thanks, Melissa

Hi Melissa, what is the protein content between the 2? If you like coffee try adding 1-2 scoops of protein powder to the milk shake well and add coffee. For me it is like drinking french vanilla coffee. I drink it all day, when it is warm it is good and even after the drink gets cold I still enjoy it. Good luck! HUGS,CHRIS

You guys are good. I have been so bad on my protien...........I know I would feel better if I would just have one protien drink/shake a day but the taste grosses me out................. HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND TORI

AGHHH you would have to ask.lol Um I think it was a little, I mean not a whole lot. But I think the soy tastes better anyway. I believe every little bit counts ehh? I can't stand the taste of ANY protein powder. NONE-ZERO, so I can't add any. Believe me I have tried. No matter if it's vanilla, chocolate, coffee, non flavored. NONE. Now I did like one one time it was muscle milk and now they have muscle milk light which is new and per serving there is has 150 calories, 8gm carbs & 20gms of protein. So is that good? I don't know what it was about that drink but I LOVED IT. Isopure, the clear stuff made me feel like their was hair on my tongue. I have even tried the Special K Protein water, since there is not that much whey protein I just feel like a little fur, lol. CRAZY I know. I guess for 2 days I could handle muscle milk light. So if anyone else has tried it, let me know. I am gonna go to GNC today to try some. I start my RYP Monday, so I will let yall know how it tastes. Melissa

Well I got the Muscle Milk light (Chocolate Mint) I had my first one this morning. It was not that bad actually. So I have started my RYP today. WISH me luck. I think for the chewing I will get gum and I know this sounds bad, but I will CRAVE salt, so I will get beef jerky and just chew and suck the juice and then expel it. So WISH me luck I AM GONNA need it. Thank you, Melissa mmmmmmmm doritos!!!!

I only use soy milk, Silk is my favorite brand - the refrigerated one. Vanilla or plain, both work. Chocolate has a lot of sugar... I mix it with whey protein, a bit of the SF cinnamon dolce from Starbucks $7 a bottle, lasts forever - and the Jay Robb protein. Starbucks has 4 SF flavors and a bottle lasts me a month of shakes so its a good buy. I am convinced that its HOW you mix a protein drink that lead to its success. Someone told me this early on and I agree.....a little bit of liquid, some ice, soy, protein power, and then the rest of the soy milk. Mix shaking up and down only! Really, this has made a difference. I often add some espresso to give more flavor. Some mix in fruit, etc, thru the blender - this causes too much foam for me. For chewing, how about SF mints? I love the altoids cinnamon which give you iron. Look for the double pack at target for the best price. Gum is good,too. Wishing you well....we're here to support you! ~Tiffany
