A Kick in the Head
You know, I've been feeling really good lately. Even strong. It's been along time since I've said that.
Last week I had my quarterly doctor's appointment for my diabetes check. And as usual I had to have my blood drawn.
Well I lost 9 pounds in the last 3 months - yippee!!! That brings it up to 128! So far so good.
I talk to the doctor about the problem I've been having with these terrible leg cramps. It's happening almost every night and damn I'm tired from not sleeping. I've had this problem since my teen's and the cramps are terrible, jump out of bed hobble around until it subsides type of cramps. I've tried vitamin B, extra calcium, a banana every day and even soap under the bedsheets but nothing has helped.
Well the doctor seems to think I have RLS so she gives me an RX for Requip. OK at this point I will try anything.
So I leave thinking I won't see her again till December and then Friday I get a call from her. Oh oh, what's up?
Well my blood work was great. Colestoral is 133, A1c is 6.7, B12 is normal. But there was a problem. I'm starting to show signs of kidney damage due to the diabetes. Oh hell! That's all I need.
So what do I do about this? She want's me to start taking medication for blood pressure. I really don't understand it as my blood proessure is perfect. She said it helps to reduce pressure on the kidneys. So I agree.
You know, just when I'm thinking that my life is getting back to something close to normal, I get kicked in the head yet again.
When will it be someone else's turn?
Ronna, {{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}} Sorry about the bad news, I hope they are able to help you out and get things back to normal. I understand how you are feeling sweetie, I feel that way a lot of the time too but on a more personal issues level. Try to look at the positive thourh, another 9 pounds, that's fantastic! And hopefully the other prescription will help with your legs so you can sleep. Hang in there, it will get better.

Ronna-
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE - make sure that your doctor knows what they are doing with the kidneys and diabetes. I lost my very best friend and my mom to this insidous disease (both from kidney failure) and would hate to see something AWFUL happen to you, too.
A second or third opinion is not a bad deal..............
Just my two cents.......
