Non-Emergent Question for Moms/Nurses?
Thanks, Anna!
I think he is a little tall for his age but I weighed him yesterday and he is 36 lbs. I am not going to get crazy about this but my husband, much to my disgust, keeps saying that he will not allow our son to be overweight. Can I TELL you how much that ****** me off? That is the last thing I would want for him, too!
I need to see how tall he is and then determine if he is in range. I just do not EVER want my son to have body image issues...but I do want him to be healthy!
Thanks again, Anna!
Hugs,
Jersey
Hey!
No way in HELL am I going to put my kid on a diet! I just wanted some numbers to shove in my husband's face and say, LET IT GO! I swear, if he damages my child's self image, WWIII will occur in my house!
He is an active kid. And he does eat healthy...and he DOES eat some crap. Totally normal kid, in my opinion.
I know my son will be fine...it is my husband I worry about!
Love ya!
Jersey,
I was going to say 35 just from how much my kids weighed at this age. I totally know what you mean about your husband ******g you off my two teeange daughters are on me right now because they want to make sure I get our 4 year old enrolled in dance or something so she can stay active when she is little and not gain weight through elementary school like they did, they were both a little chunky until they got to Jr high and then they slimmed way down it also coincided with my surgery so I am sure the change in eating helped tons......not to mention they both have a touch of an eating disorder ...but from what I have found out it is so socialy acceptable in high school these days seems like they all go through stages of throwing u*****t eating...so sad

Go to this site ....
http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/about/major/nhanes/growthcharts/charts.htm
It has all of the growth chart - height to weight, head circumferance, bmi - etc...
For your son at 33 mos
5th percentile 24.5 pounds
50th percentile 31 pounds
97th percentile 38 pounds.
Look at the charts they will give you lots of good infor if you plug his numbers into it. the BMI charts are in kilograms so you have to convert
Grace is 35 months old and weighs 24.8 pounds and is 33" tall. She is extremely small for her age. She does not make the percentiles on the charts. We have been giving her extra calories for ever--- who would think a 300 pound mama would have a shrimp for a daughter. I hope she stays petite.
Jersey, Not sure on the weight of a toddler but I wouldn't worry about it. As far as hubby goes maybe he is just concerned. I bet he is not trying to be mean. How is your husbands weight? I think as long as you are eating healthy and now are setting an example you will all be fine. Sending hugs, Chris
Jersey,
I can't go by the charts for my kids....my 7 year old is only 43 lbs. but she is perfectly happy and is the size of a 4-5 year old by the charts, she eats healthy and is thriving despite what the docs said she would do. My 6 year old is 39 lbs. and is about the height of a 4 year old, she is also a healthy eater and is in gymnastics, all of her is solid muscle, now my 3 year ols who was a preemie is about 35 lbs, but is also almost the height of a 5 year old, so it all depends on the kids themselves, and if doc says he is healthy then go with that!!
