Shoe Size Change
Has anyone had this happen?
I used to have really wide feet (I guess we can just assume fat - even though I always remember it this way, not just when I was overweight). My size was always around 9 1/2 sometimes 10 to accommodate the width. Since losing a lot of weight my shoe size went down - I was buying 9's and doing relatively well. Although one pair did seem big, I thought nothing of it. Until last week... I put on some old running shoes (9 1/2 W) and they were enormous on me. I could hardly tie them tightly enough; so I went to the Sports Authority and bought 2 new pairs to replace 2 old pairs. One pair, a Nike running shoe fit nicely in a size 8 1/2, the other pair, a cross trainer by New Balance, is perfect in size 8. How in the world could my feet get this much smaller. They're feet?!? I'm really surprised and thought I would inquire if anyone else had such a dramatic change.
Most of my old shoes are huge and I can't wear them any longer. I guess I'll have to donate.

Hey Emily,
I have lost I think 2 sizes, I now wear like a 6 1/2 and I was wearing 8's sometimes 9's, depending on the maker of the shoe. I still buy wide width because I inherited my dad's feet but I definately know I wear smaller ones. I too have to buy new shoes as well, and I don't have the luxury of just going in a store and picking out shoes like I did cause i knew my size, now I have to try them on first.
I have a high arch and a high instep so shoes are so hard for me to buy...I hate it. Add to that, I have lymphodema in both legs which causes my feet to swell badly.
Pre-surgery, I wore a 10 1/2 W...then I dropped TWO sizes to an 8 1/2 W...now those shoes are too big...I need to go out and buy smaller shoes again! When I walkin these shoes, the heels flop up and down and my long skirts get caught inside my shoes. So Im headed out shoe shopping this week..as much as I hate it, I still need comfy SMALLER shoes.
