Update on Julie
I checked the Alabama board to check on Julie and this is what someone posted..
Gina just called and said that Julie is out of surgery!
She came out of the OR about 2:05. Dr.Freeman was able to do the surgery LAP. Her original GBS was done properly and intact. Pouch, stoma, & limb were fine. He did not have to do a revision.
She had masssive amounts of adhesions, kinks in the intestines, and her liver was grown to her pouch! He has fixed all of this and she should be able to eat soon, depending on when the bowels wake up. He handled her intestines a great deal. It might be a day or two before they wake up.
Pray for her that she does well and is healed. She is on the home stretch now!
Love,
LIndy
I was just checking to see if anyone had updated y'all but I see you found the update on the Bama Board.
The news she got today is the most positive news she has had since this all began. We almost cried with excitement when Dr Freeman gave us the report. (Silly us, we prayed for it but was surprised when we got everythng we had prayed for).
She has been nibbling on ice chips and as soon as she is able to tolerate them, she can advance to SF popsicles and jello. The ability to eat may be a slow process because she will literally have to re-learn how to eat.
When I left this afternoon, Julie was still having some nausea and vomiting but due to the massive amount of adhesions she had, this is to be expected for a few days. She was also experiencing some pain in the area where the most adhesions were.. but over all we are very hopeful that she will make a complete recovery.
