Anyone lost too MUCH weight?

Hello all! I realize it's been quite awhile since I last posted.... several months in fact. I've been soooo busy getting adjusted since we moved to San Diego in September when I was relocated for my job in order to manage our Mira Mesa office. Things have been kind of strange for me lately, in that about six weeks ago or so, a few different individuals started to tell me that they think I have lost TOO much weight, and that I need to GAIN some weight! At first I just sort of shrugged them off.... thinking they were just being "polite" and complimenting me in their own way. But I am now starting to think that I HAVE lost too much weight and I'm kind of scared about it.... I started this journey weight 311 pounds in June of 2004. On the day of my surgery (1/16/06) I weighed 279 pounds. Today I weigh 127 pounds.... I have NEVER been this light in my entire adult life! I am wearing a size 6, having started out at a size 26. The skin on my arms, stomach legs and buttocks is very wrinkly. I am seeing bones that I never knew were there before! I know I don't eat right..... usually just drink coffee all day long and then eat one meal a day, late at night when I get home from work. I don't take my vitamins like I know I should. I realize I need to make a conscious effort to establish new, healthy habits. I never work out, yet somehow seem to have a little bit of muscle tone in my arms. My BMI is still within the normal range, with a couple more points leadway until I'm "underweight". I guess I am concerned that I won't STOP losing! Enough is enough! I NOW have a goal to GAIN 8 pounds! I HAVE NEVER HAD TO TRY TO GAIN WEIGHT BEFORE EVER IN MY LIFE!!!!! The picture that I have posted here was taken about 75 pounds ago. I am afraid that if I have someone take a current picture of me that it might alarm some people. I guess I just wanted to share what is going on with me with you guys. Any comments or suggestions are welcome. I want to make sure that it is uderstood that by no means do I regret having had GBP. it was one of the best things I've ever done for myself. ~Teri~

Teri, glad you got your move over with and settled in. Make sure you take your vitamins and get in your protein. You may feel okay now, but it can have devastating effects on you down the road. About the weight, 127 doesn't sound too little for your weight, but you have to decide if you are too skinny or not. Do what makes you feel comfortable unless your dr. tells you that is too little. I don't ever think I'll be that little, but I'm okay w/ it. My only bones that poke out are collar bones. It's kind of weird to feel bones that much to me. Maybe after my body lift I'll feel some bones in the middle! Karla 337/175/165

Hi Teri. 127 may not sound like much, but it depends on your height and how much muscle you have. If you're tall then you definitely may be underweight. Aside from that, you really have to start eating a little better! Girl...we don't want you to end up in the hospital. Not eating enough isn't good for someone who hasn't had WLS, so I know it's detrimental for someone who has had WLS. You could end up going in a totally opposite direction than you want to...unfortunately I've seen it happen. But you gotta take care of yourself, regardless. TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF! Hope all works out for you. Come visit us more often! April

Hi Teri, Congrats on your weight lose, and for stopping in. It depends on your height if your weight is to low or not. I'm 5'2 and weigh 132, I'm considered normal per the BMI chart. Make sure you get your vitamins & protein in, that is very important. Talk with your doctor for concerns on how to build a better food plan. Carly

I definatley don't have that problem. I started out at 270 and am at 180. I am 5'7 and wear a 12-14. I just want to lose another 30 lbs but can't seem to get it off. I feel like I could live the rest of my life like I am eating though. I am not suffering and take a nibble here and there of what I want. I get satisfied with less food and exercise quite a bit. Maybe this is where I am suppose to be. Wendy

After my plastics I was getting a little low and was worried I just kept loosing for a month or so then I upped my carbs and started getting regular milk in my Latte's and I seemed to have gained a few pounds and have evened off again. So maybe if you up some of your food intake and try to eat more times a day that will halp you . HAVE A GREAT DAY TORI

You will loose too much if you don't eat. So please start eating at least 3 meals a day. Our bodies usually hit a bottom and then come back up about 10lbs to level off. But remember, even if you have very little loose skin, you will still have at least 10lbs of it, so take that off you weight and see where you are. Also, if you aren't eating right and not taking your vit. you will look bad, know it, on days I am worn out. So take them. I do have people who say they think I am too thin, but I am not, I still have some fat storage and it is rearrainging, but there are days when my eyes look sunken and black. That and others are not going to be use to your thin face, so it will look too thin to them for awhile. So time will help. But check with your surgeon. You need to keep up on it. I know I really don't want to loose any more and I am coming up on the time of month when I do, hopeing it will stay where it is for now.

Hi Teri, It is good to see you posting. Jen is entering mom mode so here comes the lecture, shame on you for not taking your vitamins. You are at serious risk for many irreversible conditions by not taking vitamins. Since you are not eating there is certainly no way that you are getting them through your diet. Neuropathy, polyneuropathy, osteoperosis, anemia, to name a few conditions both reversible and irreversible. http://www.mayoclinic.org/news2004-rst/2469.html http://health.yahoo.com/ency/healthwise/hw252819 http://www.thinnertimes.com/gastricbypass/b12_deficiency.html And, need I tell you that if a "normal" person only drank coffee and had one meal (which is not a buffet size meal) they would loose weight also. Start eating and taking your vitamins! Ok, now I am jumping off my soapbox. Congrats on your promotion and move. Congrats on your weight loss, now get yourself on a schedule and remember to take your vits - even if you do not start eating! God Bless, Jen
