2nd Plastics Consultation

I saw Dr. Wainwright in Houston yesterday. He's just as good as Dr. LoMonaco, and generally WAY cheaper ($6,000 difference). He's going to do my surgery in 2 stages because of a big giant skin/fat bubble on my front. He said he can't do it at the same time as the LBL because it would compromise blood flow to the lower areas. In early May he'll do a one hour aggressive lipo to the front area up top and to the sides and back of my hips. I'll heal for 6-8 weeks and then do the LBL in July. I'm supposed to get prices and dates for both surgeries today. It's a big change in plans, but will still give me 4 weeks off before school, and I can take another week if I need it. I really liked him once I met with him, and he seemed to really know what he was talking about. I guess I may not have a perfect figure once it's over, but if the giant skin bubble will go down a good bit, I'll be happier. I was hoping it would totally go away, but I guess not. His assistant, Chelsea will call me today w/ 2 dates and prices. It will cost a little more in 2 stages, but I want it done right. Karla

Hey - you know Russ (Go To Man) just used him right? I saw Russ at support group last night and he is looking great. Dr W wanted to do his surgery in stages too, maybe you already know all that though. "but I want it done right" and you want it to be done safely! God Bless! Jen

Yes...Russ had already recommended him. He loved him! I talked extensively w/ Russ last week on the phone and he told me a lot about him. I really liked Dr. Wainwright when I met w/ him. I just wasn't impressed when he spoke to our support group. Karla

Karla, Just curious -- what made you decide for a 2nd consult -- was it solely the price? I am scheduled (tentatively - waiting for ins.) for a LBL with Dr. Lomonaco on May 10, but he was my 3rd and final consult. Lisa

Lisa, I heard through friends that Dr. W. was $12,000 for the LBL and LoMonaco is $18,000. I am paying out of pocket and both surgeons are great surgeons, so there wasn't a reason to pay $6,000 for one over the other. Dr. LoMonaco's office staff didn't even mention lipo, assistant said I didn't have any body fat, but I was pretty sure I did. I would be unhappy if I paid $18,000 and still had a big upper fat blob. At least Dr. W's gonna try to fix it, even though it will cost a little more, but should still be less than Dr. L. I still haven't cancelled my June 15th date w/ LoMonaco yet. I will as soon as I have dates from Dr. W. Karla

The plan sounds like a good one. You'll have to let us know how you feel after the lipo. I'm afraid that I will need some around the middle too and also around the bra-line Sending you good thoughts Ronna

I think spreading them out is a good idea and plan on taking as much time as you have, it really is a hefty recovery. You will so happy with your new flat tummy and no overhang !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so excited for you Tori

Tori...I figured you would think I was crazy for not using Dr. L, but it's the price...they're both fantastic body contouring dr's! Karla

Karla, Thanks for putting this on the net. I am going to have to have plastic's and I have heard so much about Dr. LoMonaco and how wonderful he is. It is nice to hear about Dr. Wainwright in Houston also. I have written that name down and when I get ready in a few months I will go for an appoint to check them both out. Please tell me what a LBL is?? for those of us who don't know. Did you have to be at goal for them to see you or how does that work. I have heard of many people who never made it to gold but lost 100 lbs and still had the plastic's does. It is true? I hope all goes well with your surgery. Way to go. Joyce
