SODA
OK I must admit I have been drinking a little soda now and then, I let it go flat or add water to it to flatten it out. I think it's true what people say that it makes you crave things you shouldn't eat. I have also noticed you are hungery sooner when you drink it ?
I read an article yesterday that sort of scared me straight about it. The article said when you drink soda something is released inside of your pouch to expand it and then it expands your stoma and even expands the beginning of your intestine and creates a holding area for food to go, it makes between your pouch enlarged stoma and intestine like a big pouch !!! That is scary for me I do not want to do anything to undo my surgery. It also said there was a large concidence between people that gained there weight back and drank soda.
What do you guys think ???
Tori
Who knows, Tori...sometimes false information is put out there...I also have read it won't stretch the stuff. Reading it though, it does make me glad that I have sworn off sodas since surgery. It's the one thing I don't touch. I don't like them flat and don't like diet drinks.
Have a great Easter.

If your stomach were like a balloon with only one opening I may by this theory. But it has two openings - the gas can go either way. After surgery did we all automatically give up the function of burping? I think not. As a matter of fact, I can still burp and fart
I think the blow up theory is a bunch of bull. Why doesn't the stomach and intestines blow up from those foods that make you gassy - beans - broccoli - etc.
I think it's bunk!
God Bless!

I don't know if I buy any of the theories about why....
But I do think that soda is the reason my weightloss has almost stopped. But I have drank soda since about 8 months out, it was okayed by my surgeon... and I still was loosing after I began drinking soda once in a while.
I don't notice that I am more hungry or that I eat more. I am still limited to the quantity I can eat, believe me... there is still a restriction.
But I exercise, a lot sometimes, and really watch what I eat, and still am not loosing. I am not religious about my vitamins, like I should be...
but the only real thing I am doing "differently" from others who are succeeding is the soda.
I only drink diet, and most of the time it is primarially flat, but I enjoy my soda.
I don't drink coffee, so I figure, aside from the carbonation, it's pretty much the same thing... kinda
I have started weaning myself off of my regular daily sodas, to try to see if there is a difference, and if my weightloss starts again... but we'll see, somedays are easier than others, and it's harder to give up something that you enjoy.
Please don't flame me for being honest. Maybe I am hurting myself, that was not my intention. I'm just sharing my theory. lol
Much Love,
Angela
