Yesterday I went to the female doctor to discuss having my period every three weeks and to see what can be done....Also I was hoping he could give me something to prevent me from having it while in the Dominican....But unfortunately nothing can be done that quick. He went over my history and I have been having it every three weeks since 2000! He suggestions were progesterone pills, birth control pills, an endometrial Ablation or a historectomy. I am 41 and totally done with babies.... I can't take the progesterone pills...I have a sister with breast cancer and it increases my risks... I can't take birth control because I had a sister who died from a brain anurysm...and again it increases my risks, so my other two choices were the final two. I decided to go for the endometrial Ablation where they cauterize the lining of your utereus and it can cause you to stop bleeding or have less frequent and lighter flows...I am not ready for a historectomy yet...but if the Ablation doesn't work that is the next step. I am not sorry to see it go though that is for sure.... Have any of you had this proceedure and if so how was it for you? I have to get a shot next week and then I will have the proceedure April 13th. Thanks for the help in advance... Hugs Chris

Ugh! I'm sorry you are having this problem. I've always had 23-26 day cycles and it does suck. Makes baby planning (and preventing!) difficult too. I was told I could go on the pill to regulate but as a smoker that just isn't a good decision. I hope it all works out for you. B

She's all hyped up on drugs and feels great The hysterectomy is next also, if it doesn't work. Will keep you updated! jaci

Chris About 4 months post op from having gastric bypass surgery i was having 2 periods a month is was driving me crazy so I went to see my obgyn and she put me on a low doze of birth control which I don't need since my sweet husband went through the clip clip right before I went and had my gastric bypass so I would not get pregant. But it does help slow things down to almost nothing mine last about 2 to 3 days and are very light.......42 years old and looking forward to the day this STOPS......... Good Luck Let me know if you need anything....Suzan

Hey Chris, I know what you mean, I had mine after surgery almost daily.....I then had severe abdominal pain that ended up being chronic endometreosis and had my hysterectomy in Oct. this last year. I was 33 and super happy to have it go away. I was a little bummed about not being able to have any more, but I have 3 and I am blessed to have them. I hope that the ablation works for you, if not it really isnt all that bad to go the other route, I do still have my ovaries and tubes for my hormones. Take care and keep us posted!! Steph

Hey Chris! Two weeks before my wls I had an ablation and Essure implants. I used to get very heavy periods and severe cramps with them. I had decided I wanted to come off birth control and once my wonderful hubby and I decided we weren't having any more children, I decided upon the Essure method. My OB/GYN said that while they were doing that he could do the ablation, also. It's been the best thing I could have done. I get NO periods, not even spotting after the initial spotting wore off. The procedure itself went smoothly; I had some pretty bad cramping, but again, I also had Essure placed at the same time and that contributed to the crampiness. The sloughing lasted for me about 4 weeks and afterwards -- nothing. Feel free to e-mail me if you need any more information. Lisa
