Thabks Karyn, good ideas and questions too! I am so happy for all the responses and again for knowing I am not alone. I LOVE KNOWING OTHERS out there agree we need this board. I too feel like you guys are all friends and I imagine hearing your voices when I read your posts. I even have names for all of you...Lie Jaci (not Jackie) and Ronna(not Ron...na) don't worry though ladies I will call you the right names.
1)What is the one thing you contribute to your success with WLS?? So far I am not looking at this as a success...but so far I contribute my friendships/support here as well as my fear of being fat again.
2)10 years ago, what was life like for you? 10 years ago...wow loaded question but great..... weighed about 235 pounds...My home life was busy but I loved it then like I love it know...And I wasn't as much of a princess as I am now.
I was 31 years old and working as a full time(7-3) nurse in a geriatric center, I did alot for my boss because she was almost 70 and was a lot slower than they liked so I picked up for her..I was a girl Scout leader for my daughters, and a softball coach too.
3)Who is THE most important person in your life and why? (you can only pick one) My husband John, I would have to say, he is my best friend and I have loved him since I was 15...We have grown together and he would do anything for me. His main concern is m y happiness and I think as the years go by we love each other more....I know I am sappy but this is true...
4)What was the best and worst thing you put in your mouth today? Can I be rude? Just kidding thought you needed a laugh...
Nothing yet.....But it is still early....I will post this one later...
Love, Chris
1)What is the one thing you contribute to your success with WLS??
Getting to buy in style, cute clothes...I never want to go back to Lane Bryant, Roaman's, or Catherine's fat lady clothes. Plus, I have a lot more energy and feel better!
2)10 years ago, what was life like for you? Actually 10 yrs ago, I was only weighing 211, because I had lost 50+ lbs. at w****chers, so it wasn't too bad. Got worse a couple of years after that when I gained again and kept going up another 100 lbs.+ to 337. Had type II diabetes, high blood pressure, gastric reflux, and high cholesterol. No energy and couldn't do a lot w/o needing to rest, although I didn't let it keep me from doing everything.
3)Who is THE most important person in your life and why? (you can only pick one)
My son...trying to raise the little fella to be a decent, caring adult
4)What was the best and worst thing you put in your mouth today?
best...love my protein coffee...plus it's good for me
worst...salty pretzels last night...too much carbs and salt!
Good questions!
Karla
1)What is the one thing you contribute to your success with WLS??
My determination. I knew that the road from here on out was only down hill unless I did something about it. Haveing gone through everything (and you don't know everything) I did to get this surgery, I wasn't and am not going to fail.
2)10 years ago, what was life like for you? Ten years ago, I was trying to sell Mary Kay cosmetics and my low self-esteme made the job imposible.
3)Who is THE most important person in your life and why? (you can only pick one) I know everyone expects me to say my hubby or one of my kids or one of my friends or even one of my dogs, but the truth is that the most important person in my life is none other than ME. Without me looking out for me and takeing care of me and all that, there is no one else.
4)What was the best and worst thing you put in your mouth today? The best has got to be my protein yogurt, the worst, who knows, the day is far from over yet. But for yesterday the worst was the pizza Combos that I ate while reading in bed. At least it was only about four or five instead of the bag or two of yesteryear.
Hazel
Good morning, Everyone
Thank you all SO MUCH for the wonderful words of support you have given me this past week. It has been a toughie. I am slowly healing and wanted to pop on to say hello...
1)What is the one thing you contribute to your success with WLS??
--The one thing is the constant realization that everything (yes, even this past week) is better than it was when I was fat. I want to keep remembering that always.
2)10 years ago, what was life like for you?
--To be perfectly honest, not MUCH different on the outside. I was 25 then...having fun with my friends...dating...I always did all that stuff. The only difference was inside of me...living with the self-hatred of being so fat.
3)Who is THE most important person in your life and why? (you can only pick one)
--It is extremely tough to pick just one...because I have two or three answers to this. But...if I MUST pick one I choose my son. To quote the late, great Barry...my son is my first, my last, my everything...
4)What was the best and worst thing you put in your mouth today?
--The only thing I put in my mouth today was half a taylor ham, egg and cheese sandwich on a thin roll. It was okay because of the protein but I should have ditched the roll. Regardless...it was the BEST (yum!) and the worst!
Have a wonderful, wonderful day everyone!
Love and hugs,
Jersey

Hi Karyn
Thanks for getting things started today. Boy you are up early
Anyway here are my answers:
1)What is the one thing you contribute to your success with WLS?? Making up my mind that I needed to do this in order to keep living.
2)10 years ago, what was life like for you? I was working like crazy and a traveling fool. Not as much as Tif but my job required that I travel about 50% of the time. When I was home I was either packing, unpacking, doing laundry or sleeping.
3)Who is THE most important person in your life and why? (you can only pick one) Without a doubt it's my sister. She is my bigget support, my Cheerleader.
4)What was the best and worst thing you put in your mouth today? I've only had breakfast so far so all is good, lowfat cottage cheese and a small banana. I'm usuall a "good girl" until after dinner
1)What is the one thing you contribute to your success with WLS??
My pouch, even though it is a mixed blessing, it changes it's mind about certain foods, and doesn't let me get too used to eating the wrong stuff... it warns me that I need to find a more suitable alternative.
2)10 years ago, what was life like for you?
I was 25, 220# and about 3 months pregnant. I was the healthiest I had felt in years and loving life... I had a pretty easy pregnancy and felt great about 95% of the time, and I ate really healthy... it was what I craved.
3)Who is THE most important person in your life and why? (you can only pick one)
My son. Even though I admire Hazel's answer and wish I could say I was the most important person in my life... Ethan is my life. For his wellness and wellbeing, I would and do put my own needs in second place.
4)What was the best and worst thing you put in your mouth today?
Best? almost 60 oz of water...
Worst? 2 Girl Scout Peanut Butter Pattie cookies...
Occupational Hazard...

1. The one thing I contribute my WLS success to is 'determination'. I had made up my mind that I was NOT going to let this fail. As of today I weigh 136 pounds (one more to my goal).
2. Ten years ago this month, I started a new job and it was one of the BIGGEST mistakes of my life. That job totally destroyed my self-esteem and probably did more to add to my weight than any other thing in my life.
3. The most important 'person' in my life right now is my dog, Jake. Jake acts like he is listening to me when I talk and 'hugs' me when I cry. He knows how to make me laugh and he is a GREAT snuggler. He is the best.......especially with Valentine's Day coming..........VALENTINE'S DAY DEPRESSES ME TERRIBLY.
4. Best thing - Chocolate Protein shake
Worst thing - Sunchips

Hi Karyn, Hope all is well where you are!
1)What is the one thing you contribute to your success with WLS?? I can go to the "normal" side of the store to buy clothes
2)10 years ago, what was life like for you? I was 37 I had just moved here and started working at a Credit Union and I loved my job and my boss I weighed about 200 lbs then. I had already done weigh****chers and probably started other diet programs after that.
3)Who is THE most important person in your life and why? (you can only pick one) My husband, he takes care of me when I don't take care of myself.
4)What was the best and worst thing you put in your mouth today?
I've only had breakfast so far..but it was at 11:30 so I guess technically it was lunch....the worst... one slice of french toast with syrup this might have been the worst for me..but it tasted the best!......best.. one egg.
Hugs,
Anna
