1 year post-op today.
Today is my surgiversary! I am 1 year post-op from my gastric bypass today. I couldn't be happier. a year ago I weighed 337 lbs. Today I weigh 179. I still have about 29 lbs. to go to get to my goal weight, and 7 lbs. to lose to be considered a success with my surgeon, Dr. Scarborough. I go for my 1 yr. check up next week. I have a plastic surgery consultation with Dr. Lomonaco on February 5. I'm excited about that. Don't plan on getting it done until June. I am in so much better shape today than a year ago today. I feel so much better, am off most medications, and have a lot more energy.
I am finally not OBESE anymore. I have a BMI that is in the overweight catagory. Hopefully by summer, I'll have a normal BMI.
Some goals I've had: get in my goal nightgown and goal jeans, and run the 45 degree angle hill behind our high school. Yesterday after work I put on my sweats, drove back to the school to get my son and got out and ran up that hill. Now mind you, you can't go too fast. It's so steep, I was walking hard by the time I got to the top. You really couldn't "run". It was great to make it to the top and look down. Last night I decided to try on my goal nightgown and goal jeans. They looked so tiny a year ago. It's been awhile since I tried them on. They both fit!!! I couldn't believe it. I was ecstatic.
Thanks so much for all of you who have supported me this past year. I couldn't have made it without your encouragement and advice.

Congrats, Karla! I'm a 123'er too and wow -- what a difference a year makes, huh? I've had my consults with Dr. Lomonaco and have filed the insurance paperwork to see what they will and won't approve. Either way, my surgery is going to done sometime in late April/early May. I really liked Dr. L -- I had consulted with two others, also and decided to go with him, even though he's not in my network. I think you'll like him -- he seems to go the extra mile for his wls patients.
